Can I suggest though that you go for better quality cards as I have varying reliability and speed with change of cards.

A further query here.
My SE will play music from my I pod but does not allow me to select or change tracks.Would an SD card enable me to do this?
I'm sure I can do this with my iPod via the head unit and steering wheel controls - I don't have my car with me this weekend but I'll check tomorrow when I get back home

Are you using the dedicated adapter in the glovebox to connect it

just a couple of thoughts,

The op was talking about SD cards, but doesn't state the car he has. The RNS510s will only take up to 8gb SD cards, and non SDHC at that. It needs a firmware upgrade to take anything else. They are available, hazzydayz did mine. Also, if you have an RNS510, you will have to convert your music from AAC to MP3/4 and delete all the hidden files on the SD card as your treg will read those too. It's a right pita!!

Secondly, you cannot control an iPod through an AUX port, only through a USB or Bluetooth. The SE comes with an AUX port in the centre console as standard, you can upgrade to the USB, it's about ÂŁ45 for the cable (RNS510).

Hi - Apologies for replying to an old thread but figured if i start a new one it would ultimately send me here again.
I have just bought a 2014m SE and am finding the same challenges as mentioned above when trying to play an older Ipod. Just to be clear, to use that I have to get a proper USB port installed into the car?
I have the part in the glovebox that will take SD cards but am I correct in thinking this is actually more of a pain than getting a USB installed?
I can go any buy one no prob but will it simply just plug in and play?
I have various cables that came with the car but none seem to allow either my ipod or a USB stick to play. Just says not compatible on the screen.
Thanks

I have a 2013 R-Line that I’ve had since new and it came with a media plug/lead in the glovebox and I have an old 160 Gb iPod Classic working fine with that.

It plugs into the rectangular socket under the drop down Media control unit and works with the RNS850 head unit Media controls and via the MFSW. I’m sure the lead is for the old 30 pin classic connector 🤔

See post #7 in this thread and look at the brochure page 57 - that’s what I have:

Maybe the 2014 model spec was changed or it was an option on the SE model 🤔

Thanks - Looksw like its just the SE model doesn't allow for it which isn't good tbh on a car of this stature but my fault for not doing enough research prior to purchase. I knew about things like pan roof etc and didn't mind but ive had far lesser cars with a Usb port as standard so wrongly assumed something like this would have one.
Might have to look into the SD card route...............

Am I right in thinking that if I could use my ipod via bluetooth it would connect and be used from the infotainment screen or is that wishful thinking? Cheers

Be glad you don't have a panoramic roof!

Several people have had to replace theirs, one of them had two replacements.

I’m not sure you could get an early generation iPod to work unless it’s connected via the correct lead as I don’t recall them having BT - later generations did though. I do stream music from my iPhone via BT no problem 👍
