With the lack of cold weather ive been unable to check if my aux heater has been functioning properly. Until now
Found it was not. Checked with vcds and found locked out and glow plug fault,
However after forcing output tests in glow plug it fired up and worked !
But when tried afterwards would not fire and glow plug signal fault returned, i plan in servicing unit and replacing glow plug.
But would also like to fit a telestart remote unit.
Has anyone on here been successful in doing so?

Cheers

I think if your fuel tank is under 1/4 full the Webasto does not light up.

Yes, people have tweaked their Websatos. Use the Search function.

Well after doing a bit more digging, it appears that a telestart unit simply applies 12 v ti pin 1 on plug x1 (6 pin) on the webasto unit.
I thing a simple 12v remote control relay for less than ÂŁ10 can achieve the same results!

If there is no coolant flow through the webasto, it will overheat and cut out hence the requirement for the electric aux water pump to be running, if the engine isn't. To protect the webasto, it has a built in flow switch so it won't start anyway unless coolant is flowing through it.

From my experience I had a T2 with the basic Webasto aux heater (not a parking heater). I got a Webasto engineer to fit a T91 in about 2 hours and from there is worked fully as a parking heater. the REST butting activated the heater and I had the timer options on the head unit.

The T91 also allowed remote heating (and cooling) from about 600m away.

I think the basic aux Webasto heater has a pump to circulate the water and the fans can be made to run with VCDS certainly on a T2 anyway.
