OK guys, bear with me on this one because its hard to explain what the noise sounds like.

Think of a "bdbdbdbdbdbdb" noise from somewhere near the rear wheel/axel/diff that increaes with speed. Bit like how my first escort sounded like when the wheel bearing went.

Now, I guess it could be a wheel bearing but even though the car is very well sound-proofed, I "know" its there and have just towed the caravan 2000 miles listening to it.

Otherwise, is there any known probs with the rear diff box ?

Either way - do I get bonus points for a new problem ??

If that noise increase with speed and in noise level it could be something as simple as a flat spot on either one of the rear tyres. Just rub your hand over the threat of the tyre all the way round, and you will soon feel that flat spot.

If you are not sure that you felt the flat spot , Then stick your spare wheel on there .If you can be bothered.

Worth a try

Good luck
