My Treg has been pulling to the right and its been doing my head in for a few days now. I took it to KwikFit this afternoon for it to be tracked. The guy done it and when driving home it was no different. I took it back to them and they said that the setting had gone out. They carried out the wheel tracking a second time and it seems a bit better but not perfect.

Do you think i may have a problem elsewhere that can effect the tracking? Or do you think it may not have been done preoperly? I overheard the chap say to his mate that he has set it to 7.5. What does that mean and is it the correct setting for my car.

Cheers

Yes- I too would use a VW dealer or a specialist as it may not be the racking- it could be that the camber settings are out- I think paid ?50 for a full 4-wheel alignment at my local dealer last summer.

Took the treg back to kwik fit 3 times since to get the alignment right and still no good. wasted ?26 but lesson learned. Think I am going to take advise from fellow treggers and take it to my VW dealer.

Thanks for the replies.

Volkswagen wants ?190 for wheel alignment which I think is ridiculous. I have a question so if anyone can help I would be most grateful.

Is there any difference between wheel tracking and wheel alignment?

Also does anyone know what VW actually do for ?190?

I am thinking of using a wheel alignment specialist company in the Birmingham area as it may be a bit cheaper.

Cheers

My understanding is that it includes adjustment of the tracking, checking/changing the camber and also the castor angles of all 4 wheels.

It might be worth phoning around a few dealers to see if they have any offers on- when I had mine done they were advertising it as a special ?50 for any model- I guess to drum up some work.

yes i think i will have a phone around. It's doing my head in now, i was thinking of removing the steering wheel and moving it a tooth on the sline. That would be cheating tho.

I would phone around your VW dealers - I've just had full 4 wheel alignment plus adjustments carried out by Ridgeway in Newbury for ?113.75 + VAT which is considerably cheaper than your initial quote.

However I wanted this put through as a warranty claim but they refused - I only noticed something was wrong when I saw that the inner edges of both front tyres were worn down to a far greater extent than the rest of the tyre. The car itself handled fine. Otherwise my Goodyear Wranglers would have been good for 40,000 miles plus!

Removing the steering wheel was a rash decision. I am going to call round dealers as advised. Thanks for the posts.
