Went to my local dealer last night ( Lindvale, Romford) asked for info on Touareg, was asked for my details etc, and was told i would get a call next day, its now 5:20pm, no calls? :badbad:

Now do i chase them up OR go to another dealer? Now i know they are busy!! But i would have expected at least a courtsey call? or am i too fussy?

Whats been your experiences and what would you do? :worthy:

Keep badgering them and if they don't bother, don't bother yourself and give a more deserving dealership your custom

I waited for an extended test drive on a 3.0v6 for 2 weeks from JCT600 in Wakefield.

The dealership cancelled twice on the days I was supposed to use the car and nothing since then, almost 7 weeks later.

This from the dealership where I bought my 2.5 in the first place - along with a 1.6 and a 2.0 Beetle before that...almost ?60k of repeat business with potential for another ?45k

Don't be put off by crap service - The Treg is an awesome vehicle that rewards all the trouble you will have getting it in the first place

phone them, and tell you are unhappy, and that you have expressed that unhappiness on the Touareg internet forum, and if you don't immediately start getting better service, their dealership will be getting more bad press!

JCT600 also have Layerthorpe VW in York. These guy's were excellent and let me borrow a 2.5 SE Sport on two occasions - one day mid week and one Saturday. From what I understand most dealers run 2.5TDI's anything else I think they have to get in from VW.

My 2.5 will be here in May, I'm getting it through Lex on a company backed scheme, I believe they have ordered it through Ridgeway?? in Reading but I will be taking it to Layerthorpe in York for service etc

Reason I was given for not getting the v6 was that the Finance Director was using it to go from Wakefield to Layerthorpe York everyday

So they do apparently have a V6 on fleet as a staff run around - just not for pleb repeat repeat repeat customers like me

I am not bitter, as you can see - but I think I'll be spending my hard earned with a dealership that deserves my business

Definitely do not go back. There are good dealers about.

Actually, I think it may be down to the individual. Whatever the company culture, this would not happen if you are dealing with a proper salesperson.

I did one better with my 2.5

I've lost count of the times I went to Vantage in Leeds to try and get someone to show interest in me buying a Treg - I NEVER even once managed to speak to the Lux Car Manager in about 6 attempts.

Just gave up and went to JCT who weren't doing Tregs at the time, and became their first Treg customer, ordering my car 3 months before they became a Lux Car dealership

Took the greatest of pleasure in parking my brand new purchase on the forecourt at Vantage and telling them what they lost out on

Were vey Bovvered? Nah

Just made me certain I'd made the right choice and gone to someone else!

Just wish JCT would show as much interest now. They know I'm looking for a 3.0 V6 and they just don't seem to want to know

Lee, I'm confused (it's easy
) are you 1) simply looking for information on the Treg (brochure) 2) looking to arrange a test drive 3) buy a specific used car?

a) Don't bother with the dealership - order via VW UK's website - peruse at your leisure (no sales staff to bug you).
b or c) I'd try the local dealer (Lindvale) once more and explain I'd requested info but sadly no-one had seen fit to call me back - see if they apologise and sort things out. If they didn't then I'd think it was representative of their general level of customer support and take my custom elsewhere.

Have no experience of Lindvale personally but from reports on the forum the quality of customer support seems to vary massively between dealerships and maybe there are some VW dealers that have yet to get the message that selling a ?30 - 50K car requires a more customer-centric approach than a ?10k runabout
Vote with your feet and take your ???'s elsewhere.

Just my opinion.

I went to the fleet Guy at Layerthorp Andy Bettley, he not from a dealer background and I found him to be excellent- they let me borrow 2.5 twice with no fuss- you could just email him and ask re 3.0- his email is "Andy Bettley" <[email protected]> and he normally gets back to you within a few hours.

Can understand not wanting to give them your cash - I've been to loads of dealers on my travels and not one retail sales person has shown any interest in me - never had a call back or a brochure sent??.. My next door neighbour is a Saab dealer and has run customer service meetings where he asks owners to come and tell him what they want???.

Ah right
- thanks for clarifying.

Seems SteveBeedle knows a more 'switched-on' contact....
Good luck with the search and let us know how you get on.
