Dear Kaine & 'Prhim'
All I can say is well done and thank you! As a future owner of the Touareg, I have found the forum very informative indeed.

Hi Everyone,
Great website for Touareg Owners / Potential Owners.

I have had a Touareg on order since early August. Delivery expected end of October. Is this timescale realistic, it seems like i'm waiting forever.

The t-reg is a 2.5TDI SE Auto with factory fit tow bar, tinted back windows, parking sensors and style kit.

I suppose one of the problems with these sites is that people want to get some feedback on problems they are encountering and don't often post tales of joy. So, as an expectant owner, I am a little concerned about reported problems such as tyres wearing out after 11000 miles, transfer boxes needing replacing and poor fuel economy.

What can I expect from my new T-reg?

I mainly bought it to tow a caravan (1400kgs). How easily will it cope with this?

Neil you have pretty much hit the nail on the head re. "feedback on problems"....

You will find the Treg is great, and I understand is ideal for towing.

The 2.5 is pretty good on fuel - don't forget its a big heavy vehicle..

Watch the tyres - any sign of uneven wear refer to your dealer. And speaking of dealers, do your utmost to befriend the Touareg Technical Chap and then any problems that arise will be sorted much more effectively/efficiently....imho

Welcome and enjoy!

Hi Neil & welcome.

This time last year I ordered mid-June, was quoted beginning of November delivery but it arrived by the very end of August in time for a September registration. So on that basis, your delivery MAY come forward a few weeks...better to be pleased about that than disappointed by a promised quick delivery that then may be delayed I suppose.

Half the fun is in the anticipation

Neil,

I too bought my touareg to tow a caravan. Mine is about the same weight as yours and it tows like a dream. My only problem is forgetting its there.

I used a Mondeo 2.5 V6 before and get better MPG both single and towing out of my treg.

Thanks,

That's good to know. I've been towing with a 1.8 Mondeo. It's been painful.

Neil,
I am in the same situation as you are! Ordered my Treg mid - July and am still waiting!!! I have been told delivery will be end of October / beginning of November. Fingers crossed! It's a 2.5TDI SE manual with parking sensors, Bi-Xenons and rear mounted spare tyre.

Hi folks, made a couple of posts so guess i should introduce myself.

My Name is Brian and my Partner Cat and I are from Aberdeen and are looking for a Touareg now as we are Getting a couple of Huskies soon and need a vehicle to carry 2 dogs, any equipment required and be capable of getting over any rough terrain so we can get to meets or just somewhere we can work the dogs.

I've only owned VW's, so touareg seems the perfect option, i've always had a soft spot. For our needs and the fact we have other cars, i dont need anything fancy so we're looking for a 2.5 tdi, second hand, 3 years old probably, parking sensors front and rear, id love Sat nav but can't seem to find one with. judging by some issues people appear to have with the auto box, i'll be looking for a manual, i prefer driving them over an auto anyway. tho once i test drive a treg, i may change my mind!!
for a 3 yeard old vehicle we're ideally looking for one about 30k miles and leather isnt essential.

There seems to be a few great ones out there but the majority are silver. not a bad thing, but id never imagined myself owning a silver car

Anyway, Nice forum Guys. very informative and helpful

Hi,

I've just joined this forum, looking for clues as to whether the Touareg is the right car for me! Like a couple of other posters, I tow a caravan (1400kg) - currently with a Honda CRV. I'm perfectly happy with this, but I may have the chance to get a discount on a VW through work, so I'm here to find out more about it.

Cheers,
Lizzo

Hi Kaine, 'Total' here from Northampton, had my V10 for nearly three weeks now and loving it. Followed on from an XC90 D5 Executive and just no comparison, except the volvo fridge was colder! Just having a bit of trouble with mpg though since enjoying performance...guess will start being sensible shortly, who knows.

Just put on the right number plate too: 'V10 ***' so might get spotted at some stage.

Does anybody 'Tregmeet' in the South or East Midlands for weekend runs etc?

Regards, Total

Hi Total,

The forum doesn't tend to do many meets at the moment, however if your up for something then post away and see if anyones interested

Just wanted to say a big thanks to you and your members for all the advice and posts on the site. The comments helped me make up my mind about whether or not to go for a Treg. I had a wide choice of company vehicles to choose from and had narrowed the choice down to a Volvo XC90, BMW X5 and the Treg. You will be pleased to hear that I went for the Treg am awaiting the delivery of a new Treg 3.0d V6 SE colour Black next Monday and can't wait to give a blast.

Lets hope it has all the mods done for the Sat Nav and wipers mentioned eleswhere on your site and I'll certainly keep an eye on any tyre wear.

My last two vehicles have both been Hyundai Santa Fes' 2.7 cdx petrol which gave me not one problem in six years of motoring, so I hope the VW lives up to that standard and or exceed it form a reliability point of view. Funnily enough the Hankooks on the Santa Fes' both lasted around 60,000 miles each time around but it did feel that you were riding on concrete tyres sometimes !

Slightly dissapointed that I will seemingly miss the Treg 07 facelift, but I had no option to place the order at the beggining of last October.

I'll let you know how things go and you never know we might see sight of each other on the M54 in due course !

Thanks again for all the advice and a Happy New year to all your members and visitors.
