On all 4 wheels the paint around the circumference of the VW motif is flxing off. Anyone else got this??
Hi Ali,

Yes, suffered the same problem with mine - dealer replaced all four centre caps with new ones, under warranty.

The problem seems to be premature loss of the lacquer which covers the chrome ring, so it's probably worth giving the replacements a good coat of car wax just in case.

Just one other comment Ali - the replacements on mine don't fit as well as the originals - they seem very slightly larger and stand proud on some edges, spoiling the smooth look of the wheels which I'm a bit
about.

Please let me know what yours are like.

They fit fine (18" valley wheels), makes me wonder if you got the rights ones mate ????

Don't know Meld - mine are also 18" Valley alloys. The centre caps look like the right shape but the fit is very poor - like they've warped or something
and the VW centres are coming adrift on two of the caps so very :angry2:

Think I need to mention it and see if I can get another set - clearly there's something wrong with these ones.

Just washed mine for first time (well, its been 2000 miles....!) and I see what you mean, theye new ones dont fit flush do they!!

Wonder if there is a slightly different size centre for 5x130 valleys as opposed to 5x120 valleys to fit over the wider boltheads ??

This wouldn't surprise me as I had a new wheel at the same time and although the dealer ordered it using my VIN number, they were sent a 5x130 valley for a V10 and had to manually re-order a 5x120.

Hmmmmm......????

Interesting point - hadn't considered that but you could be right.

Mine's due to go in for some warranty bits soon and I have mentioned the ill-fitting centre caps so we'll see.

Fingers crossed
I'll let you know.

Have noted 3 of the 4 motifs have the creeping alloy corrosion on the shiney bits. But when Wife booked her Treg in for servicing and mentioned these to Service Technician he said they are not covered under Warranty, I have offered to speak to Cooks of Peterborough armed with details contained in this thread but she doesn't want me to upset the Service guys. I might phone to order some up and when they arrive point out that other "good" dealers replace the corroded items to ensure the Customer comes back for future servicing or to buy another Treg. Otherwise can't fault the Treg after 19,000 and 18 months use especially now we have Hankook Ventus boots.

Hi Paul,

I'm now on my third set and there has never been any quibble from Nottingham VW - just excellent helpful service.

I believe they have contacted VW Technical to find out why the 'new' caps don't fit as well as the original and whether the moulding has been changed.

Up to you whether to pursue the warranty route or leave goodwill for other possible items...it's not a big issue but then again, in principle, why should you have to pay to replace non-wearing parts during the warranty?

Let us know how you get on.

My V10's been at Citygate Ruislip this week for stepper motor/transfer box fix and at the same time I've had all 4 centre caps replaced, the front chrome grille replaced (bubbling under the surface) and a couple of bits of interior trim replaced, all under warranty with absolutely no quibbling.
They've also replaced all 4 tyres and done full wheel alignment, again under warranty.
