Dear All

Just bought my 2nd treg. 1st was a 2.5 tdi which sold couple yrs ago as thought was underpowered. Now bought a 54 reg V10 with 45000miles but have the following questions please ?

1) Driving on 30 mile run ran fine. Parked up and restarted to return home. Car had no power and wouldnt rev past 3000rpm.
Got home left motor for 30 mins restarted and back to full power ? No smoke or any tale tale signs

2) Brake check light is on so goin to replace. Any one used EBC redstuff pads on here or know of any alternative good places for OEM VW pads. Understand VW pads made by Pagid ?

Thanks & Regards

Pete, Welcome

2) lots of posts about brake pad replacement - just use search

1) sounds like you got "limp-home" mode. Then stopping motor and re-starting re-booted the ECU probably. Guess a trip to a dealer will be needed to establish the cause.

Noobytoogy will be along soon advising you to buy a warranty - good advice

And here I am! Yes - get a warranty!! ASAP too from the sound of things.

Could the car have gone into limp home mode in which case a VAGcom check should show a fault number? But why it should then be fine . . .

The other thing with turbos is they lose power dramatically if the turbo hose is split, but again that wouldn't be temporary.

Many thanks for the info. Ordered some front and rear pads from VW.

Regarding loss of power car has been ok today but booked in local garage for Vag com check.

Also going to oil change to Fuchs full synthetic 506 approved then see how she runs.

TBH very impressed with the V10. Do you notice low down noise / grunt ?!

Thanks

Hi guys

Thanks for the responses. Goin for std vw pads as had ds2500s on another motor and although they had
more bite than standard dust and squeal was an issue so will keep Touareg on standard parts.

Goin on Vag com later this week so will let you know what faults it spits out,

Read an interestin article on here about a 393hp v10 tuned in Chorley. Tempted ! Is the owner of that motor on here?

Regards
