Picked up my new one two weeks ago - upgraded from a V6 petrol to the big boy and my girlfriend bought me the plate. Love the car.

Took it camping last weekend in Cornwall - disgusting weather, wading through mud and fords, good fun. Silver a great colour for hiding the filth, but doesn't highlight the airintake well...

Got to clean it now.

Great pictures
.

Question: which bike rack did you use and how's the drag when driving. I'm thinking of getting a bike rack as well and am not sure whether to attach them to the door (strap thingy) or just put them on the roof.

Good luck with the cleaning
.

Going to clean the mini in a few moments before my wife comes back from the NL with the Treg.

Very nice too, looking forward to taking mine camping and biking.

Just trying to decide between the internal bike rack and the roof one.

Where in Cornwall were you?

I'm sure I saw you - deffo saw a silver V10 with private plates last weekend

Were you anywhere near Perranporth? If so, you missed a good weeks weather - not good for tregging but good for the beach!

Hi Robert, the drag wasn't too bad. It took the fuel consumption down by about 6 mpg, but there wasn't much (additional) wind noise. I was driving pretty quickly and the bikes were very stable.

I used the VW rack, although I know they sell the same one in Halfords now.

I do also have a rear mounted but have just thrown it away as it doesn't fit very well over the plastic rear spoiler/lip thing and the bikes move about way too much.

It is a bit tricky getting them on the roof initially - but now have the hang of it and I much prefer the roof mount so it doesn't mess up the interior and you still have the load space.

Not sure where Perranporth was! We were in Padstow and had lunch at Jamie Oliver's restaurant.

I know this post is a bit after the last one here, but I couldn't resist.

Photos taken at a place called Bendethra, which will mean nothing to nearly all of you, but suffice to say it's back to nature. No showers, long drop toilet and plenty of critters.

My wife's a city girl, but she's fast coming around to the camping thing.

One consistent theme at the LR club here in Canberra is the statement "Jeez, I didn't think a Touareg would go there".

The club, unsurprisingly, consists largely of LR (discos and defenders), Nissan Patrols and Toyota Landcruisers. I'm the token VW owner, but to their credit, they welcomed me fully, especially since I'm prepared to use the Treg. Allegedly, there is an X5 owner, but I've never seen him.

Further, lads and ladettes, follow this thread soon. Get your google out and look up Mungo National Park and Cameron Corner, photos to follow in a couple of weeks. Me and a couple other Tregs (V10 and V6) are going on a road trip.
