Hi all, recently purchased auto 2.5tdi and always notice a noise, when starting from cold, when gears change from 2-3. Any comments, also airbag fault registers on screen. Any others experience same.

I agree..had the same concern and ABS self-test was the answer from the dealer technician.

As for the airbag warning...may still require a dealer visit.

Airbag light may be genuine - check if theres a bloodied pedestrian embedded in your grill ??

If not - visit dealer.

Agree about the ABS testing noise

I had the problem with the Airbag warning light - turned out to be a microswitch in the seatbelt clasp - sorted no probs and no problems since

Hi Reg
I too had airbag warning light, had a look round the airbags and seat belt tensioners. Found a little plug and socket had parted from each other under drivers seat that operates the seat belt tensioner, plug it back in but still had to go to dealers to have the system reset.

Thanks for that and to earlier replies. Sorry for the delay in replying as I was away for a few days.

I hate you lot - you've got me worried now !!!

Is the ABS noise from 2nd to 3rd gear a sort of screechy, fan-belt-slipping type of noise?

And why can I also get it in other gears around 2000 revs when I floor it?

Could it be the turbo letting off pressure (don't know if this is possible) or a slipping belt (are there any ??).

Answers on a postcard please.....

Don't worry, it's a composition of your tyres being worn, suspension out of alignment, your stepper motors being shot, brake disks needing cutting back, the wiper blades being knackered, and also for good measure probably a head gasket gone, and all the electronics needing dealer resetting.

Hope this puts your mind at rest?

They all do it , i think its speed related at about 15 mph. I tried just driving along at about 10 mph & it only made the sound when i got above 15mph.

It's like a really quick crunching noise. Only happens when you first set off after turning the ignition when you reach about 15 mph.
