I was asked last night whats sporty about it that makes it a sport model? I've just looked again at period brochures and i still can't determine.

I'm aware the car was built with Desert alloys but not aware of much else. Electric memory seats aren't sporty . I'm curious why it is so designated?

Have i asked this before? 馃

As far as I can tell (on my car) over the SE externally it's front and rear bumpers, 19-inch wheels, side skirts, rear spoiler, tinted rear windows and exhaust tailpipes. I'd have happily bought an SE but this one came up with ultra low mileage!

馃 So theres actually nothing sporty about the sport version at all, shiny bits and foglights seem to be it. This is my first VW since an original Beetle, guess i've been indoctrinated by BMWs idea of what a sport model is.

In the North American market, the term Sport is often used for the smaller wheelbase version of a model - the version of Hyundai Santa Fe sold in Europe is sold as the Santa Fe Sport in North America with the Santa Fe being an oversize version we don't get here - in the same way, the Subaru Outback Sport in North America is/was sold here as the Impreza Estate.
