Sales didn't really seem to know the model very well. I had to tell them how much it could tow and they were amazed!

Mind you, it wasn't the lux specialist I spoke to as he wasn't available. Will let you know how I get on as the deal progresses.

I asked about collect and deliver service as there aren't many lux dealers around. Specifically I asked if they would do this on minor repairs and problems as well as servicing and got a non-commital, "yes, I expect so" reply. Sounds like the sort of thing they could deny later to me. Maybe I'm just cynical.

On the plus side, they accommodated a test drive very quickly and were friendly and flexible. All in all it seemed a professional operation but I guess time will tell.

Of course all of the above is my personal perception only and does not represent the views of mytouareg, and any other legal caveats so I don't get my pants sued off me. He he.

I wasn't impressed with their sales so didnt buy one from here.

Servicing however is superb, though I haven't had a "collect & deliver" service yet !!

That said, I think I prefer to collect it myself to give it the once over before paying !!!

I visited Listers, Stratford for my first real Treg looksee a couple of weeks ago... saw Joe Fuller, the Lux car manager and he was very accomodating. Was out in a 2.5 for a test drive within minutes. Non-commital about precise deals (understandable as I had said I had just started looking) but would be willing to "talk" when I was ready. Going back over there next Wednesday to look at a 2005 2.5 nicely loaded...and get a price on the Beemer...I'll update you with my impressions then. Still trying to decide whether to go for new & wait to Sept, or grab one now. (Will get a better price for the soft top at this time of the year, I hope.)

I have had a variety of VW & Audis over the years and have always found the Listers Group very good.

I've said before on the old boards that I bought my Treg from Joe Fuller and he was head and shoulders above any other VW dealer that I had dealt with (and I tried a few!). Like you, I was a bit vague to start with, but Joe stayed in touch and called me from time to time when he had a car that he thought would fit the bill. All this was probably over a period of 6 months before I finally took the plunge.

He always kept his promises and was prepared to do a deal. Also got a decent trade in on my 5 Series and a few freebies thrown in.

In short, he actually behaved like he wanted to sell me a car - shock horror!!

Would certainly recommend him and what little I saw of the rest of Listers was pretty impressive too. Even the valeter took a pride in the job he did and came to make sure I was happy. Service dept was very good as well (made you feel like you were an important customer to them), although I only used them once.

Maybe. I was in the Volvo that day. Good lady also making all the right noises about buying too...sales like that.

Got to go back with the beemer on Wednesday to look at a reed green/reed green leather 2.5 2005 model with some nice goodies on they now have...might have to do a deal sooner rather than later....... I want it & I want it NOW!

See "marketplace" for Beemer ad...anyone interested?

Finally done the deal with Joe Fuller, Lux manager at Listers. He's obtained a decent PX price for the beemer soft top which has gone in today - price would have dropped substantially had I waited to Sept/Oct when Treg should be ready.

He's also matched price offered by internet deals on supplied car price - didn't know if that would be done on V6 TDI...but he did, apparently only because of the way this deal has evolved (2.5 SE, up and up on spec, then on to V6).

So far so good on the ordering front...lets see how it progresses at delivery.

Must say Guy at Motorworld, Kidlington, Oxford was also very keen to get my business...any potential buyers: I can recommend dealing with either franchise as the respective individuals are personable, straightforward & looked after me well.

Just had a call from Joe at Listers before he goes on holiday...confirmed Treg is scheduled for build at end of July so delivery expected for end of August! (They will hang on to it until 1st Sept, even though it's on a personal plate)

That's earlier than expected and very welcome news...so far so good!

I have just bought a Golf diesel 4motion from VW Stratford today, dealt with the sales manager Jo(e) over the phone throughout negotiations and very impressed with his service as he actually came across as concerned for customer welfare.

Golf does not replace the Touareg!!
