Ski Trip - French Alps

View attachment 540 A Treg's a pretty handy tool to have on ski trips as well! The V10 struggled a bit in the snowy conditions on its 19" rims and standard tyres - kept having to use chains - but I bought a set of 18" ex-Cayenne wheels and fitted them with Pirelli Scorpion Snow and Ice tyres just for the Winter trips and they are fantastic. Although legally I still have to carry chains I have never even come close to using them since.

Thanks for posting this
.

I am playing with the thought of going on a ski trip myself and taking the Treg to get me there ... and to have a bit of fun with ofcourse. The choice of tyres would have to match the conditions and you are spot on with the Pirelli Snow and Ice tyres. I may do the same and get myself a set of rims to match the tyres. Pitty we still have to take the snowchains since both are actually mandatory ..... winter tyres for the German roads (and possibly also other conditions) when the temperature reaches below zero and snow chains as you drive into the mountains.

Great picture BTW.

When did you make the trip?

Think that pic was taken March 2005, although we have an appartment in the building to the right of the Treg, so we and the car are lucky enough to make 6 or 7 ski trips a year. I think the car knows its way by now! Not such good news on the mileage front however. Now clocked 76,000 mls but running better than ever, and unless it's my imagination it seems more economical too.
