Morning all,
Found on vwnavi that firmware 1102 and v4 of maps are available. Does anyone know if you have to pay for these or are these upgrades covered under warranty - VW called me and carried out the previous firmware upgrade to 1022 (under notification 91E1).

"Firmware version for the 1100 Volkswagen RNS 510 has been released, the update the version upgrades to the B version and gives new features such as
* Bluetooth audio support
* AV output
* Faster response touchscreen
* New volume location (at bottom of screen without any dimming)
* New Balance Fader

Units that can be successfully upgraded with this software release include
1T0 035 680 (1T0035680) from software version 0421, 0520, 1000, 800 and 900 to version 1100.
1T0 035 680 A (1T0035680A) from software version 0421, 0520, 1000, 800 and 900 to version 1100.
1T0 035 680 B (1T0035680B) from software version 0421, 0520, 1000, 800 and 900 to version 1100.
7L6 035 680 (7L6035680) from software version 0522, 1002 and 1022 to version 1102.
7L6 035 680 A (7L6035680A) from software version 0522, 1002 and 1022 to version 1102.
7L6 035 680 B (7L6035680B) from software version 0522, 1002 and 1022 to version 1102.
1Z0 035 680A (1Z0035680A)
After the process is complete you will effectively have a revision B unit.

Warning! When this upgrade is performed the updater will delete all the music and map data from your units harddisc. You will need access to your original map DVD to reload your maps back to the harddisc.

(Last addresses and home address are retained however as are other settings).

I know this from experience

basically get the firmware update and then ask the dealer to load the latest nav discs to the HD - you don't need to keep the disc once its loaded. I'm sure the dealer will gladly do this as it costs them nothing

i asked about this yesterday while the car was in the garage all day. They said there was nothing outstanding. Was this a case of we can't be bothered or are they not obliged to carry out updates?

I just did the upgrade to 1100 /1102.
Yes it does wipe your HDD clean & you have to reload your maps.
Not a massive change with one exception..... you can select an option to have the clock displayed on the big screen & it is shown when you are in radio or map mode. This means you can now get the time when the cruise control is set
OK maybe I am sad old git but it really used to wind me up not having a clock!
A few other tweaks along with BT audio (my iphone wont pair still) & some pretty graphics. AV output is now possible but I have not tried this.

I must admit the V4 maps in my 1 month old Treg are not very good- the version in my old 2005-55 Treg were much better.

Last Monday I started my new job and set the Sat Nav in my brand-new Terg but according to the disc there was no such address (The Area in Bracknell) where as my old Treg got me there easily for the job interviews.
Tomorrow I have to meet someone in the centre of Nottingham and have been recommend a Car Park near the meeting venue- but it does not exist on the V4 disk- very poor :evil:

I think it was version 2 (mine was one of the early RNS2 equiped cars this was DVD based where as my prevoius 2004 Treg was CD based).

As a test- see if you can type in Bracknell as a town and then "The Arena" as the street- this does not exist in my new car with V4

Hmmm, treg sat nav in Nottingham, used it to get back out to the M1, spent most of the time saying I was off road in the centre of the city!! Fortunately found my way anyway......

New Sat nav probably couldn't cope with the 3 bridges roundabout in Bracknell :wink:

Cas, just been and tried searching for "bracknell" and "Arena" like you said. i put Bracknell in no probs, but if you put the arena in the street name nothing!!. so i tried POI's and selected sports and recreation, it then gave me loads of things one of which was "The Arena Liesure Centre" ( if i remember correctly) is that what you are looking for? if it is V3 has it although not a direct search, but not hard to find either.
