I'll save the VW embarrasment of re-posting my whole diatribe against Ridgeway in Reading. But I do want to make sure that any newbies to the forum are left in no doubt that these are not good people to deal with.

A much better bet would be Motorworld in Oxford / Kidlington who have been ten times more helpful and professional.

From registering the car in the wrong name (hassle with DVLA because now has previous owner), to forgetting to order parts (spent months without a horn) to not having correct oil level (thanks that was fun on the M1 in the rain) to not even saying I'll be with in an hour when waiting at Reception and loosing my letter of complaint. As you say, Motorworld better but still have trouble booking the car in for a service..

I must say I have to agree. I have just placed an order with Guy at Kidlington and so far have been extremely impressed.

Hopefully this will follow through to the post purchase support, but I remain confident.

Motorworld about to get a test, as my new Treg now has sufficient 'niggles' to warrant a return to the dealer....

Let's see how quickly they can get it in and how successful they are at rectifying the faults.

mines is in on Thursday to get a few things ironed out. Mainly the tyre wear issue

Can I join in?

Mine's going in on Tuesday 6th to have the power steering system checked - they think it might have a leak.

I have to say the issues don't seem to be going away do they!

Little continuing niggles and gripes can sometimes be worse than a major problem sorted in one fell swoop.

Best of luck all.

ps I'm not tempting fate by reporting no current problems.

Do you find the journey to Oxford a bit far from Reading? Are there no nearer dealers who would offer a better service? I bought my Treg in August from Ridgeway as a used car and they haven't been too bad (so far . . .)

I've just had some warranty work completed (usual stuff - transfer box & power steering pump) and I have to say that I didn't have any problems at all. Mind you, I rather suspect that I am now well known to the Service Desk and they may be acting above and beyond normal standards just to keep me quiet!

Best advice I can give is to try and deal with Chris (sorry, forgot surname). He's been pretty good.

I've never heard any more about the customer feedback sessions that I mentioned elsewhere in this section. Last I knew Richard Jory told me that the project had been a little delayed by the involvement of their marketing division. Think it's died a death though.

Ridgeway - well

The used car sales side (Dan Harrow) very good
Service side - on the minus side

Apparantly the car was serviced prior to delivery - stamped service book but no info on the VW dialogue for car and computer not told so expect only an oil change... awaiting confirmation on this..

Martins in Basingstoke get 10/10 so far...
