Whilst changing my Transfer Box Motor under Warrenty, there was a 2nd worksheet for my car which was labelled "Carried out Recall 90D7".

Had about 7 jobs listed including (from memory) - Water Pump Replacement, fuel line replacements, airbag wiring something, phone cradle check and various ECU software updates.

VW have been very quiet about these items !!!!

Reminds me of LandRover about 4 years ago publically recalling Freelanders for 3 modifications but actually doing 8 things (kept quiet about the other 5).

Can anyone else shed light on Recall 90D7 ??

As usual, Listers Stratford excelled, car was cleaned, puncture repaired for free (I didn't know about it) and the replacement 3.0 Treg had only done 300 miles and was clean, loaded and gorgeous.

When you find out let me know!

As usual, Ridgeway Reading did not excel once again.

Had the car for 10 days (that's another story!), when returned noted recall 90D7 required but not yet carried out. Reason? "We don't know what it is, must be recent we haven't got the details. All we can get is in German" !?!

They put my mind at rest though - if it important I'll get a letter. That OK then !!

Oh by the way, did they wash it ? ... (remember they had it 10 days)... Did they heck! Also didn't happen when it was last in for a service.

Am I being unreasonable? I don't expect someone else to clean my car for free but when their telephone "on hold" message says they will and other paperwork says they will, I sort of assume they will.

They apologised (only after I pointed it out) but then they would wouldn't they?

Given up on Ridgeway. Any suggestions where I should go next time? I'm based in Wokingham so I'm thinking Windrush Maidenhead or Martins Basingstoke. Any advice gratefully received.

Not too sure which recall notice this one is

How ever every time mine goes back in

they are always ready to be very proud to admitt we have updated the ecu's

Great news but at you would suggest this should be a recall ??

Anyway not grumbling as they look after me

Nope - and I have no recollection of whatever you are talking about....(cough)

Think the ECU updates were more gearbox related than engine. Get the impression there are lots of ECUs dotted all over the car !!!

Popped into my local dealership to get a slight misfire/lumpy running looked at whilst idling for a period of time.

They mentioned there was an "engineering enhancement" outstanding on the car - a recall I asked. Yes, but not a safety related one.

They looked up what was outstanding on my car "sept 06" and was told the only fix applying to me was related to the windscreen wiper motor.

I will find out next month when the work is done ....

Well mine has just gone in to the dealer for a few cosmetic repairs under warranty and they said that there was some outstanding work to be done. They said they would have to order some mounts that are needed for the recall, but would have to wait as they are on back-order.
They've now called to say it's ready for collection - but when I mentioned the parts on back order they said head office has told them to hold-off on the work for the minute!!
I asked what the recall code was and what was originally stated but they couldn't tell me only that the recall code was "90D7"
I'm just going to collect it now and will ask to see the paperwork.
I will keep you posted.........

Hi Spoke at length with Ridgeway today
The VW system shows them that 90D7 recall is about to be made by VW and is due on mine - he went into all the electronic systems including ELSA but it is not yet showing them the details.

When Cars come in it shows then recall is due, he told me in the past VW had rolled these out over a time period ?

- Meld just gone through 20K and definitely better post visit from Simon his attention to the Car has improved it no end, had a clear run into Kingston few weeks ago (at Road Angle indicated speed limit i.e nice and gentle) got 35.4 mpg return trip !!!!!!! definitely not wanting any thing touched in my engine ecu or nice shiny new gearbox presently with it running like this!!!

Hi guys, thanks for the welcome.
I've just returned from collecting the treg and I've actually seen the 90D7 recall notice. Plenty of bed time reading that is all I can say! Literally pages of it.
Various things that need changing/repairing from phone cradle (if fitted) through to side airbag connectors needing repair; even something referring to the rear diff!!!
They showed me the message from VW telling them not to proceed with any of this work just yet - and that they would contact me as soon as they get the go ahead.
On the other side of the coin though - very impressed with the service from Carrs, Indian Queens. Very polite and helpful (well as much as they could be).

Have tried Martins as well, went back to Ridgeway - enough said on that.
Have found Ridgeway ok but now i know both the Lux car guy and chief tech and they have been very good (finally) if i had time i would take the day off and go to Listers stratford- (my father who lives out near Alton has them come pick up his Audis still yes he is a good customer... A8, S8, RS6 and in sep R8)

I have heard rumours that a bloke called Simon has magic in his laptop, apparantly. So I heard / read......

And apparantly 35mpg makes his tinkering very worthwhile !!

Rest assured 90D7 doesn't appear to affect his work. So I heard / read.....

I am beginning to wonder if I have actually started a popular worthwhile thread ??

Maybe worth pinning 90D7 Thread Mods ??

AMMENDMENT TO LAST REPLY:

The car is now back to factory settings.
0-60 = 12 secs flat out. (not 9.5).
No overtaking power.
Clearly there flash the Engine ECU during recall 90D7.

Next time I reply I will test properly before typing.

Sorry Nap.

Regarding the field campaign 90D7

There are around 22/26 issues that are checked or upgraded remember these do not fall into the category of recall which are predominantly safety issues and those below are only carried out when the vehicle is in for other reasons/work. The chassis number is entered into VW's system and this then gives the upgrades and checks what needs to be done on the particular vehicle.

I can only give a clue to, as each vehicle depending the model year and the engine size etc. Some of these are leakage checks ie battery etc.

01 Telephone cradle check
02 TV tuner
03 N/Applicable
04 Air supply unit
05 Air filter housings
06 thro 09 ...N/A
10 Side air bags connector
11 thro 15 N/A
16 Update central control unit
21 Update diff software
22 update dash insert

If anybody gets an indication of their particular upgrades the we can add them to a list for that model etc.
