Rear Fog light

I have discovered my rear fog light is not working (no warning on the info system) but before I go and buy a new unit for my 2015 R-Line I wanted to check the connection etc as recently had to have some repairs to this side following a car park shunt that damaged the red plastic reflector. Can someone point me in the direction of how I gain access to the plug etc. Is it a bumper off of can access be gained from the wheel arch or back of the car. Thanks

Had to do mine a few weeks ago, access through the wheel arch very tight on room. There is a connection on the back of the bumper not easy to get at also mine was led cost from stealer was around £60. No pattern part a available unless its a bulb.
Thanks Cass, do you happen to have a link to "Remove rear bumper cover ⇒ General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr. 63 ; Rear bumper cover ." quote taken from Page 159 of your link in order to get to the lamp unit.

Ah, got it now. Thought the huge spaces between each step were for a missing picture of each step! Silly moi!
I have removed the lamp fitting and checked it's receiving 12v and can confirm I'm about to get my trousers pulled down and royally spanked at the dealers unless anyone knows where I can get one cheaper...?

Thanks for the information guys, much appreciated.

However...I somehow managed to get my arm in and release the plastic clips holding the reflectors in place, the using every extension piece and a bendy extension managed to take the one screw holding the lamp in place but there's not enough wire to get the unit free and disconnect from the wiring loom.

Next was my finest stroke of genius, I took off the plastic cover from the towing hitch and fished the assembly through the hole and just had enough wire to allow the plug/socket to poke through and be disconnected. Bit of a faff but no bodywork was removed and all fixings and skin on knuckles are still in place..!!

I wouldn't import at the moment.

Just go straight to the dealer.

Me too - no hassle in ringing them and seeing what it would cost - you might well be surprised

Dealers used to give a discount on 4+ year old cars' spares.
Is this what you are after or has the shape changed on a 2015? It's in Letchworth.

That's for the normal bulb fitting, the 2016 uses a LED unit, so would need to also purchase the correct bulb holder and modify the wiring to suit and then probably re-code (if possible) for a conventional bulb

Hi, I’ve got the same issue, did anyone consider cutting the cable and reconnect a new lamp rather than removing the bumper..?

just a thought
Mine failed its MOT on this back in March, as you've found, no source for the LED component alone, had to buy the complete unit from a dealer, was about £70.

I removed the wheel, arch trim and liner and swapped it through that access, a complete pain but do-able, from memory I used a very small ratchet with Torx bit to get the screw holding the light in out, the clip holding the connector to the bumper was a pain to remove as well.

It's not a great design - on mine I could see the corrosion where the LED unit had got wet, probably be swapping it again in 5 years time...

This is great Intel. I've today realised that my rear fog light isn't working either, although there are no error messages and the switch illuminates ok.
So, here's a great big PLEASE!!
I was wondering, is it possible to remove the LED bulb without removing the lense from the bumper? Is that what the torques screw is for on the back of the assembly?
And, how does the plug disconnect from the harness? Do you have to press a particular side and pull, or just pull?
Also, could you provide the part number of the LED bulb and where you managed to get one from?
Treg is 2016 RHD and the fog light in question is right hand side.
Sorry for so many questions, but this seems to be one of those pain in the arse jobs that is way more difficult than it should be.
Thanks in advance.
Tregger Happy 😊
