Anyone had any problems with there lights! Sometimes the dashboard doesn't light uo when I turn on my lights. the delay is anything between 3 and 20 odd seconds. Took it into the dealership and they can't find anything wrong. We have also had the Sat nav revert to the daytime setting when the lights have been on ( approx 30 seconds) and then reverts back to night.

The car is only six weeks old and so far the dealership have failed to impress in every way.

The bluetooth car kit has been a bodge job. They quoted £70 labour an hour instead of lux car rate of £125. I am still trying to get someone to sort this and this is from 10 days ago.

Also haven't been informed about Off Road Day. How do I find out about this?

Hi Soph

The back light on the sat/nav will change to night when the lights are on you can set this on the settings menu to stay on daylight, there is the facility for switching to either. There may be a light sensor as well that maybe blocked, I not sure about the dashboard lights there is a slight delay but I will look at mine tonight and post a picticture of the menu if its helpful, mine is a CD version and may have slightly different settings to the DVD version.

Hi again' I had a look at the dash lights and no delay and my guess would be some earthing problem.

On the map its pretty staight forward go to the map and press ' system settings'in the info main menu, this can also be from the radio main menu.

It looks like this....

Make sure you set to manual that then retains the daylight setting at all times

As you can see I have set the highlight to right setting, you can see from the picture the contrast can adjusted. The auto brightness is via a sensor.

If you get stuck its in the manual in my manual, page 55, booklet 3.3, radio navigation S2

Hope that helps and welcome...

Thanks for your help guys. I probably didn't make myself clear about the sat nav system and the lights. What I ment to say was while the headlights are on, it has on at least one occasion, switched from night setting to day setting and then flickered back to night again.

The car is going back in on the 10 January to be looked at again as well as the bkuetooth kit being rectified.

Thanks again - Soph

See thats my logic! However according to VW it not that simple. I can just imagine 6 months down the line the fault will still be there. The other day it took nearly 45 seconds for the lights on the dash to come on.

I have the convenience pack too. When you say the lights are on, do you mean on the first setting from off? If so, that is "auto"... i.e. sensing the ambient light. I have experienced, when driving in daylight with the switch in this position, the headlights coming on when passing through dark shadow, esp. with the low winter sun at present...tree lined roads can fool the sensors into thinking it's getting dark. If the lights come on...the radio switches to night display setting....then the car drives in to the sun again and a few seconds later...the displays revert to daytime setting!

As far as the instrument lighting is concerned, again with the headlight switch in the "12 o'clock" or "auto" setting, there is a delay/fade up or out depending if switching the ignition on or off. Can't say that I've noticed anywhere near up to 45 seconds though.
