QUOTE(ScottieTreg @ Dec 12 2005, 08:48 PM)Great pics.

Smudger did you notice what tyres they had on???

Yep.

Nearly all the vehicles had General Grabbers on. Talked to some of the Unlimited guys about them and they reckon they're pretty hard wearing (20,000 miles +) and ride okay.

The V10 I was driving in the morning had the Scorpions on.

Ah that's what I've got on just wondered as goodtread told me they supplied the unlimited team but wasn't sure if they were spinning me a yarn but it would appear not.

Was that what they used on the track as well?? I mean the Treg with the general on

Very nice pics

I have to say I liked the track stuff in the morning most on my day

And the 'baby' 2.5 aquitted itself very well against the competition

Fiona,

If you are trying to suggest that they changed tyres mid way through the day
- then No.

These were the tyres on most of the vehicles for the full day.

e'hhhhh I not that stupid
well I don't think I am am I??. I just thought they may have had a couple of treg's for the track with Road Tyres only on and then the others with the A/T for off road use. I wouldn't have thought the general Grappers would be that good for track use.

I know what you meant I was just being flippant.

We used all the vehicles on both track and field.

The Scorpions on the V10 were fine on the track.

The Grabbers on the TDI in the forest / field were ok but didn't have much grip on the wet grass / mud. That's my excuse for getting stuck anyway.

As mentioned previously, "our" Unlimited instructor had just fitted Continental 4x4 Contact's on his (3.0TDi) Treg' - reckoned they seemed pretty good but it was early days.....

I know he looks here sometimes so he may give us an update in due course.........

That's what I had on from new.

Good grip but shocking wear. As my previous post re Winter Tyres I have posted photos of the Contis after 9200 miles.

You make your own conclusions.

I spoke with the unlimited team yesterday and they agreed that the Contis were the wrong tyre to use on the Touaregs. However it was a decision that was made because of the limited number of suitable tyres available when the Tregs were originally released.

This may change as further tyres become available. I know they are still using them from new as they were delivering the local garage when I was picking a colleague up recently and I checked each car as they were parked up off the transporter.

Sad git.
