Today, early this morning whilst driving to work the whole bloody car shut down on me brakes, steering and transmission. Had I gone the normal way to work then I would have been travelling at 70mph when this ocurred and probably in a mortuary by now!. As luck would have it I was doing about 20mph crossing a roundabout. REALLY SCARY STUFF. My car has now been recovered from kent to Danes at Chester. I am rejecting the car. Makes my tyre wear issue pale into insignificance don't it ?.
I have lost all confidence in this car and its only got 700 mile on the clock. The dash board is lit up like a christmas tree with ALL GEAR SELECTIONS showing (Lit up). The VW Assist guy (Really nice guy) plugged his lap top in and it came up with some or other sporadic engine fault and transmission errors then it locked him and his laptop out of the system.

Hey ho it is now gone and I dont want it back.

Whoever my guardian angel is I thank you!!

not so good that. No wonder you hate the car.

If you look over into clubtouareg.com think you'll find it's another Touareg common fault read a few threads on this happening to a guys on the road home when they first picked up the Treg. Good news is (is there is any good news) that it is easily fixed nowadays or should be.

Best of luck keep us in the picture.

blimey, it is more common than you think, bmw have had a few problems with this as well.

as most top end cars are 'drive by wire' these days basically cars run by computers electrons telling engin to change gear that sort of thing, things are bound to go wrong and like with most computers, it is always the software

Hi Dave,

After 20k miles of trouble free motoring (apart from tyre wear) my gear selections are also now all showing at once! Also parking sensors stopped showing/beeping - tried resetting by turning key without foot on brake pedal, and got the parking sensors to work again, but gears still all glowing on the screen.

All seemed to happen as the clock passed 20k miles...must be the millenium bug resurfacing?

Looks like I might have to pay a visit to the dealer.

Parking sensors gone again, and just in case they were feeling lonely, so have the reversing lights...so now I definitely can't see in reverse, and I'm not even sure if I am in reverse!

Calling dealers in morning...will report reason after cure.

just had call fom dealers (Danes of Chester) VERY HONEST WITH ME. They do not know what is wrong with the car They have confirmed the problem I hd (no brakes/steering/engine cut out/transmission all lit up) but havent a clue why this has happened. They have had to collate all the info and email to VW Technical;
Also very kindly said they would replace all tyres on the car for me. They were unaware that I was rejecting the car (rejected to the internet co I bought from), but were still more than happy to assist me. They will find out whats going on tomorrow and hopefully source a replacement car for me. TOP MARKS TO ALL AT DANES OF CHESTER you deserve it !
