I've been full of praise for Motorworld in the past, and indeed still rate their Touareg tech there highly.

But my experience with them lately has left a sour taste in my mouth.

Not only am I still waiting for a promised cheque to clear the £80 fine I got from the DVLA for my old (returned as a lemon) Touareg; this week they showed absolutely no interest whatsover in helping me sort out a warranty claim over a broken headlight unit.

Even when I asked them to give me a price for doing the work out of warranty - I can't afford to go around with a Xenon that constantly flickers on and off - they have still failed to get back to me.

I hate to say it, but since they took their guy off Touaregs and made him sell the whole range, things have gone badly downhill.

Current score 2/10. And they only get the two cos the tech is a great bloke.

OK, so they've redeemed themselves a little of late.

They still owe me £80 for my DVLA fine though!

But luckily the techie there, Graham, is such a good bloke, they go up to 6/10. Especially if he helps me with my Road Angel fixed-install as promised

These guys get my vote! Very competitive, eager for the business, good advice, kept me informed and happy whilst VW built the thing, spent time with the technician whilst the car was being prep'd....... one delighted customer.

I find all dealers are eager for business and will do anything to secure a sale. Its when you have to go back that the true test becomes apparant.

My experience is different - after five different Volkswagens (four brand new) I have never managed to get my local dealer to sell me a car. They don't negotiate on price at all, you're generally seen as an inconvenience by the sales guys.

I reckon different dealers focus and balance their business differently. I guess my local one is more into servicing, rental, used and other stuff to make their money and probably doesn't sell that many new cars (although the ones they do at a premium) hence their disinterest, particularly when you want a deal.

My experience in Bolton at a dealer with five dealerships plus Audi branches was a total contrast - very keen, great on price, bending over backwards to do whatever it takes. Clearly focussed on shifting cars and lots of them. Refreshing!

This is my third VW from Motorworld............ always been great... sales, servicing, repairs and otherwise. In fact, I'd go so far as to say they've improved with every purchase (though that may well have been due to the increase $ being spent!)

Credit where credit is due........... this forum should also be a place to offer praise when VW staff go beyond customer expectations as well as highlight the not-so-great issues that arise too.

Just my two pennies worth (well, more like ?40K, but you get my point).

I would reiterate what sjt says.

As a company we have had a number of VW's from Motorworld and have always had very good service for both purchase to service.

Although I could have got my Touareg a little cheaper ?400 elsewhere, I prefer to use the same dealer for both supply and service as you can build a good rapore with the dealer, so when things do go wrong they go that extra mile to help you.

Thumbs up as far as I'm concerned for Motorworld.

ps still waiting for my car to arrive.

Hi toolate,

Great choice on car - the V6 is just right for this car

Ah, you are in the mysterious VW production queue.......... just keep nudging Guy now and again for news. He's caught in the middle until the car pitches, so don't shoot the messenger as the car is well worth the wait!

In my experience, Motorworld understand the concept of repeat business and the way in which customers adopt the VW brand. But, I'll take my marketing hat off now.

Mmmm. My experience of Motorworld fluctuates.

Graham, the Treg techie is an absolute star, and Guy was very helpful at getting my replacement Treg ordered and delivered.

But after now waiting over two months to have a warranty claim on my alloys sorted, I am getting quite fed up. I know Nigel will say his hands are tied by VW 'process', but it doesn't exactly add up to a positive customer experience.

My car is due its first service in 1,000 miles and I'm really not sure Motorworld will get the business if they can't sort this warranty claim out.

Matt,

Doesn't sound like you're very happy........... I can understand your frustration. I guess it depends whether you want Graham to service the car or are prepared to hand it over to an unknown for the day?

I've had concerns with VW in the past, but I try and keep a clear differentiation between what is a dealer issue and a manufacturer issue. If there was a forum for VW manufacturer issues, then I might have a couple of stories to tell!

Still waiting for a call to book my vehicle in from January. ( vehicle sold in May ). Guy very helpful service just either forgetful or understaffed. Never phoned back. Normans at MAidenhead seem quite keen and customer service at present is good
