Am I missing somehting ??

If you use cruise control whilst using the sat nav, you have no clock to look at.

The CC setting uses the clock screen in the MFD.

No you're not missing anything!. seems to be an oversight in the design stage.
The wife also finds it annoying that when she is a passenger she can't see the time as the clock is only in the middle of the MFD.

Do left handed people normally wear watches on their right wrist?

I don't but the comment set me thinking!

Me too, when your mates turn up and you have your pint in your left hand it,s easier to drink and look at your watch on your right wrist

I've just been out to look at my sat nav screen and there is definately no time showing on the screen.
Is it something that can be turned on in the settings?.
