Yep i have only had me Treg 3 weeks and it is had to be recovered by VW assist as a brake warning light came on......Brake fault..Stop the vehicle !!!

So i limped home called VW assist who were out within the hour, the diagnosis was low pressure on the brake circuit !!

I had a hire car dropped off which is a Bloody Vauxhall Safira which i am not happy about !!! Never driven a Vauxhall before and never will again after having this pile of poo.

Had phone call from VW Stealers on Thurs saying it was the Servo so they had ordered a new one. Had phone call Fri saying the new one had been delivered but it was damaged so i would not get my car back till at least Monday !!!

I will let you know what happens tomorrow.

I have picked my car up today from Heritage after a very hard week.
Only to find my fuel tank on empty, it had half a tank in it. So i asked how many miles thay had driven in it and the reply was amazing " I am not sure how far the guy who took it homes lives from here "

I cannot believe they had the check to let some Herbert drive MY car home without asking the owner. I am so mad.

I will be speaking with head of customer services tomorrow asking a few questions. I am appalled.
They said it was for an exteneded test drive !!!! I replied " I don't care what it was for, you did not have permission "

Any ideas what i should do. They were asking what i would like. I said this is not about what i would like, this is all about the principle.

Right glad i have written this as i have got it off me chest.

Round 2 tomorrow.

if they actually said someone took it home you may have a case, although they will not admit to it now, unfortunatley test drives whether extended or not are very important, put it this way you wouldn't want them not to bother, otherwise if you drove it home and you had an accident how would you be blaming

Still.. hard to see how they could use half a tank and not either (at least) partially refill it, or have the courtesy to ley you know in advance.

This just smacks of VW dealers not being up to the task of servicing the "luxury" market...

Well at least it was not used for a wedding which is what happened with the BMW 735 I had. It had a minor problem but they claimed it needed an extended test drive over the weekend which I was not happy about. Got the car back with 230 miles on the clock and confetti on the mats etc. Told them no further business from me ever.. sold the BMW's but that was the last straw after various other issues.. so its not just VW it can happen to anybody

Happened with other makes as well. Knew somebody who left his pride and joy with the dealers, and found that his alloys had been kerbed. The dealer denied all knowledge, until it was pointed out that the vehicle had been spotted racing around the local town.
As far as extended home test drive is concerned, I wouldn't think that taking the vehicle home counts as a test drive. When I've taken cars in for service the test drive is usually less than 10 miles. I would be very angry if the same happened to me. I would write to the managing director of the firm, lux cars, whatcar etc, and anybody who's interested.
There was a story a few years ago when during one of these extended test drives the mechanic crashed the customer's vehicle.

Had a Freelander a few years back that had an intermittent rattle from the sunroof. The dealer could not identfy on short test so they rang me asked if I was prepared to let the deputy sevice manager drive the vehicle home.

They told me where he was traveling (some 25 mile each way) and how the vehicle would be parked overnight. When the vehicle was returned to me it had more fuel than when I took it in to resolve problem.

they should of at least told you about oik taking it home.
plus topped up your tank for you.
typical vw dealer - lack of trained staff and ex quick fit monkeys playing with your toy.
but thats what happens when you pay peanuts -you loose all the good staff.

Look in the forum on dealerships.
There appears to be a good one in Chester. I do not know about down south.

Hello all

I work for Heritage on the sales side working with Luxury cars and I love Touareg, thats why I'm on this forum. I guess that as a dealer I'll probably recieve an avalanche of 'hate mail' now but i feel i should reply.

I read about this problem and looked into it, this is my view only as im not management or on the service side.

As a luxury car retailer we have two Touaregs specificly for customers who have their Touaregs off road. Any Touareg owner can have use of one of these vehicles FOC if their car is off road. VW assist arranged a loan car direct with the customer (via europecar i think) and we were not part of this conversation.

The car was given an extended test drive by a senior member of our service dept. following a conversation with the customer and if there was a genuine lack of communication regardint this then sorry, but somtimes communication is misunderstood by either side in any supplier/customer relationship.

Following a 36 mile trip £10.00 unleaded fuel was put into the car on 1st Feb at 10.49. I am looking at the receipt which also shows the vehicle registration number.

As for the comments of 'oiks' driving cars, its a bit playground dont you think? And the comments about 'lack of trained staff and ex quick fit monkeys playing with your toys' is on what basis? Both of our luxury car technicians have been with us many years and have worked on Touaregs since before their launch in the UK. If you purchase a Touareg from us you get a direct dial number to your technician so you can contact him directly at any time.

I love Touaregs and try to give all of our customers the best experience when they visit us. I'm sorry if you think we are the enemy but I for one care about my customers very much.

I hope you all enjoy your Touaregs over the weekend and I agree you drive the best Luxury 4x4 in production.

Oli, I think it superb when trade members join forums, as they bring knowledge and experience that we wouldn't be party to normally

On one of the big boat forums I belong to, we have actively encouraged trade members, and now more and more are joining, and providing very helpful information. Not suprisingly, the members point potential purchasers towards people who are helpful, so there is benefit on both sides

Having bought my car off you, I can vouch for the fact that you genuinely want to help purchasers, so I welcome you here

This is fantastic.

Can you please explain to all why i was not told the car was going to be taken to an employees home address. It is not hard to tell a customer the car will be driven home is it ?

I don't want to get funny but this car is my pride and joy and it is all paid for and no finance. It is also not a company car.
So it is as though someone had borrowed £25000 from you and taken it for the night and not told you where they were going with it. I am sure anyone here would be not happy.

What if you had hit it. Being a dealer you know the car will never be the same once repaired.

If you would like to check VW assists paperwork you will see what mileage it had when it was picked up. Then compare with when i picked it up ?

Also i normally get between 18 and 20 MPG since refill on the computer. When i picked it up i check and it said 13 !!!!! Someone obviously Ragging my Toerag !!!

I would be interested to see what the Inland Revenue would make of these so called extended test drives in customers cars.

I am currently in communication with the top man at Heritage Bristol so hopefully i will be able to report a happy ending. At the moment he has told me to fill my vehicle up and pass on the reciept.

Like I said, you do have someone who does care about their customers. You are talking with my boss and I have to leave that discussion to the two of you. When you are in next please do come and see me, I hope that this will be resolved to your satisfaction. I'm sure you understand that I felt it was correct to put the other side to this discussion. I look forward to having a chat and coffee with you soon I hope.
