Still waiting for a reply to email and phone call from Ridgeway Reading re Aircon and MFD bug...the Salesman replied instantly but nothing from Service.......
:bashwall:

So called Martins to see if they could plug car into diagnostics for Air-Con over the W/E left a voicemail.

I was surprised when they called me back o nMonday to say service was closed but someone would call me on Tuesday.
Even more surprsed to have them call me on Tuesday to confirm they now have a fully trained Touareg Tech and they would book the Car in.
Sorry but i am not used to a VW garage actually returning my calls, gave up on Martins years ago but maybe they have got their act together these days.....

So Car booked in, Loan Treg avaiable apologies from them for the Car having problems (they didn't supply it either) so far looking good....
Lets see how they do on Friday.

Strange, took my car to Carrs with a simialr fault this weekend, MFD said 'AIR CON OFF' at first morning start up and then progressed to 'Workshop - transmission fault'. All OK after re-starting.

Apparently the car was asking for a software update I was told....?

All OK now - touch wood...
this software update thing is very confusing for me. Why does a car that previously works fine require a software 'update'? Are they running XP or something?

I might be totally wrong, however it sounds like a nice excuse to me - i.e. dealer just clears the error and loads the latest software - error dissappears, so it seems as if the problem is solved by the update. Would be interested to hear if the problem ever comes back
My guess these messages are early signs of a battery issue, it is dead easy to clear the error codes and say it is a software upgrade. I know in my own case short journeys and it kills the battery. As a result every now and again I put on the battery maintainer for a couple of days since its not being used. No further messages of any type and no software upgrades
.

Like you I thought about the battery first but these errors occurred just after a 250 mile drive so maybe the updates were genuine. Or perhaps they changed the battery but didn't want to tell me?

Will keep an eye on the dash from now on.

What can happen on occasions is the vehicle is either in the showroom or on the lot and because it it available all the goodies are shown to prospective customers thus the battery is run down.
Well Treg is back in still has Air Con fault.......

Martins have been extremely accomodating.

I have a nice shiney Altitude Shadow Blue Loan Car for a few days (love the colour, looks mean as hell if only the ride and tyre noise was a little better...)

The only area that is frustrating which i think applies to most VW dealerships is waiting for VW technical to respond with the solutions...

MFD long term avg still does not work - VW response "we are aware of the problem no fix available yet" (i know their is a fix from other posts...)

anyway whilest they try to find the leak (in twice already for very short visits but not yet found)

But Manual seat dropping fixed by clips - work great
Aux heater noise kit being fitted
Hazard warning light switch (sticks on....) being "filed" so it does not stick
and wiper jump (only happens at continental mtorway speeds....which i never reach in the UK.....)

Nice attitude and very willing to do everything keep me a happy customer.

if they fix the Air Con permenantly i will be extremely happy....fingers crossed...

What nonsense !!! My MFD was fixed by VW Shrewsbury (01743 453400) - Service contact is Simon - ask your dealer to call him - he sorted mine using the official VW fix (this is what he told me anyway)

They can use a Aircon Die to source any leak - its a 30 min job - really it is - I have done it myself !!!

Hopefully they can resolve this issues quick for you.

YEP i know this from your other posts...the dealer has shown me the report they have to put into VW and the response which is kind of frustrating....
:bashwall:

spoke to VW Shrewsbury Simons on hols, but they did say they would be happy to give me the info to pass on but they would need the reg no to give me the exact details...please PM if you are happy to give me those details..

it has been filled twice with the die but they could not pin point the leak, its now in "to be investigated further...."

I will see tomorrow...
I am being very patience with them currently as i know the Tech has only just got qualified and is coming up to speed on all the different bits, he's a nice guy. Have other VW in the family dont rate the sales much but no complaints over service side at all ........ my rule is be understanding, patient and polite twice..third time i will be showing my 2 year old daughter how to have a real tantrum :angry2:
2 out of 3 i suppose is a good start

Air con fixed - yippee !!!!
guess summers over now though...
Compressor was leaking. Noted that the engineer had to confirm no stone hole through it as otherwise it would NOT have been warranty.....
it also had the aux heater ticking fix done, which seemd to involve having tre rear seat out, pipe changed etc..total between both jobs of 17 hours labour, glad it was warranty....

STILL waiting for the MFI to get done i know there is a VW fix, i have details from Kaine (thanks)
The problem i am having is that offically no fix exists the software fix is a pre-production soltuoin that works will be up that way soon and he will do it whilest i wait....

Purchase of my 3.0L Tdi from Martins of Basingstoke.

I have found the service to be good so far from Martins. I have been dealing with Ian Perrow one of the two
luxury salesteam there.

I originally pruchased a 3.0L Tdi in February but it seemed to dissapear off the face of the earth with no real
confirmed build date. This was the fault of VW and not the dealers.

I then cancelled this order with Martins, and reorderd a higher spec one which has now arrived.
The main reason for this cancellation was the price reduction in February, and when there was no
sign of the original order arriving i decided that i wanted a fully loaded car and was prepared to wait.
Ian had no real problem cancelling the previous order but obviously wanted me to re-order again.

The handover went well and i was given the time to properly test the car before handing over the
bankers draft. The car had been prepped well and was spotless.
Ian had done his homework and the documents were all supplied. A new Sat Nav disk had been orderd and the torch was also present, as was a litre of oil.

Ian did mention that he would arrange a load Touareg for servicing if i called him.

All in all good service. Obviously i have yet to have my Touareg serviced with them and i will
report back on this aspect of their service lalter in the year.

Took my car to Martins on Monday

see the problems section. Faulty brake light.

I was impressed. They took it in with no notice (Monday morning) and I have just
had the car back this evening.

All fixed under warranty and car washed.

Top marks to them
nap,I saw one of your earlier posts in this topic re manual seat dropping .I have this on my 56 reg 2,5Tdi and put it down to me being overweight.
What is the cure and is it a common fault.

Hi Nimrod

This may clarify - its due to the lever getting knocked when getting in and out of the car

The cure? Plastic blocks of all things - very high tech...............

Thanks mj,I have to go to the dealer soon,I'll chat them up for the blocks.
Service at Martins is still good.

I deal with Vicki Thorpe - she is an excellent member of staff and i trust her.

went in last week to have the rear hatch seal replaced. they did a good job as usual. This is the modified seal that
was suposed to prevent Niagara Falls in the back after it rains heavilly.

Was done as a warranty item but alas does not fix the issue. oh well. Vicki said there was no guarantee it works.
