Tried to open the tailgate so as to get the shopping. Pressed the remote several times including locking and unlocking it, but the tailgate remained firmly locked. In the end retrieved the shopping thro' the hatch. Found a solution in the american treg forum. There is a release handle inside the light panel of the tailgate on the driver's side. Opened the driver's side rear light panel of the tailgate from the inside, easy enough by prising it open. But didn't find the catch. Then a brainwave! Their driver's side equates our passenger's side. Therefore duly prised open the rear light panel on the passenger side of the tailgate, and found a small white pull. Unclipped it and pulled, and hey presto the tailgate unlocked.
Question is what should I do with the problem now ? The release handle on the tailgate does appear a little sticky.

Hi Staffs .... sorry to hear of the problem.

On the afternoon of the day I picked up my brand new Treg the tailgate would not open.

Took it back to the dealership .... There is a small plastic sleeve the locking/unlocking mechanism connects with and this can move.

They simply replaced the bush and the problem has never come back ...

Ta, I'll take it in when it happens again. At the moment (touch wood) it seems to be unlocking ok.
