I dealt with Nick Chatten at Lindvale Romford, he in himself was a nice bloke, gave me a deal I was happy with and was efficient - i'd recommend speaking to him. As for Lux dealerships, it's my view that from the 2 I have visitied - VW Abridge ( I would not recommend at all) and Lindvale, VW need to step up a gear
to compete with Mercedes/BMW/Porsche/Range Rover and to be aware that selling a Lux car is different from selling a Polo.

One of my main gripes was that VW could never give a concrete delivery date and gave 2 before the car was finally ready. Also - tthey don't seem to offer a 'designo service' or 'tequipment' range like Merc or Porsche. Some customers will want a degree of personalisation, but VW don't seem geared up to do this.

I live fairly near Lindvale, about 15 miles, but bought my touareg from Reg Vardy in Leicester and saved myself about £3000 compared to Lindvale. Initially, I had warranty work carried out by Lindvale, but now for warranty work/servicing I make the trip to Nottingham VW, it may be 140 miles each way, but definately worth it. Situation was brought to a head by familiar Touareg irregular wear of front tyres, after 6 months VW eventually agreed to pay for an alignment check which was carried out by Lindvale who found quote "there is nothing wrong you will have to live with it". Not being happy I asked Reg Vardy to buy the vehicle back and they booked it in at Nottingham VW for a further alignment check, result, front and rear wheel alignment out of specification. That was 6000 miles ago, to date the new tyres do not appear to have the same irregular wear pattern. So, if you do buy from Lindvale be wary of going to them for Service/Warranty, it may be convienient, but will it get done correctly?

Quite worrying to hear this as my Touareg is booked into Lindvale Romford for an Alignment check on 24th of October. having covered just over 400 miles my tyres are wearing on the edges. Are you sure they dont know what they are doing as this is the impression that i am getting.

I haven't had it serviced by them yet, so couldn't comment. There is also VW Abridge, do you know anybody who has had their car serviced their?

As I said yesterday when they checked my alignment in March they did not appear to know what they were doing, mind you I have doubts about whether VW do either! Conversation with VW before mine was checked "You must have a full tank of fuel when alignment is checked. Why? To ensure vehicle is at correct ride height. Are you telling me the self levelling air suspension doesn't self level? Long pause followed by lots of humming and harring followed by, I must speak to technical about that."
Continuing discusion about Lindvale, another reason I had doubts about their ability was back in January in the cold weather I had a warning light for the transmission come on during several journeys and booked it in for investigation. On collection was told problem was caused by low battery voltage, but not to worry they had charged the battery. When I asked what had caused the problem and what had they done to prevent it happening again, yes you guessed correctly "We have charged the battery". Finally in September when it went to Nottingham VW for its first service they found 1 cell of the battery had failed and replaced the battery. I now think that original problem in January was caused by this cell failing as this was during the cold spell when I was using the A/C for demisting, headlights, heated seats etc.

I also had a tyre wear issue and went to Lindvale for repair. They told me that a new directive had been sent from VW on how to rectify this problem and it has been repaired without any problem. Perhaps athomas had been to Lindvale before this directive was sent but went 140 miles away to the other dealer afterwards. That may explain why I had my fault fixed.
I have recomended a few friends to Nick Chatten at Lindvale and they have all been happy (as have I). My car is shortly due for a service and I will not be going on a 140 mile trip (sorry).

Focus we shall see! My car going in on Monday for alignment after covering only 600 miles from new tyres are wearing quite noticably on the outer edges. Just out of curiosity what was the 'New directive' you talk about??

Do what I did when mine was re-aligned free of charge - print off this forum and take it with you - in particular Athomas's experience of Lindvale & Reg Vardy.

Seeing what is said about them on the internet to potential customers sort of "crystallises the mind......"

I think Lindvale Romford are brilliant! especially Julie! All you small minded peolpe with nothing better to do, should get out more! Lindvale have always given me excellent customer service, and rectified all faults including tyre issues, with out any hassle.

Travelling 140 miles from Basildon to get your vehicle repaired, is not only short sighted but some what stupid!

Well done all at Lindvale! keep up the good work!!!!

Apart from the unnecessary personal insults of this latest contributor (any other motivation for their gushing praise?) it would appear this dealer is inconsistent with it's service.

I wouldn't like to take this sort of pot luck with any dealer I was spending money with.

I have used Lindvale and would agree with BigBoy,perhaps the other Customer reason for going 140 miles to Nottingham, may be because its Red-light area?.

Welcome to the forum.

Its not a matter of being small minded at all. I deal with a dealership that has been very good with me (tyre wear issue included), however have caused a another member of this forum a lot of hassle - this is fact. I praise them, he doesn't - we both have completely different opinions on the same dealer.

We all have opinions based upon our own experiences. In your case, you have received very good service from Lindvale and we thank you for your comments - it provides more balance to the thread - however we appreciate others are not so satisfied

Hi All,
I do sincerely hope that our 2 new members full of praise for Lindvale are NOT STAFF there, very strange Huh???.(Bearing in mind I printed off the forum and gave it to them)
However on a positive not My car IS AT PRESENT WITH THEM. They have sorted out the geometry for me but still have the car as VW LUX CARS dont want to change the tyres, They are going to have a fight on their hands, By ADMITTING THAT THE GOODS WERE NOT CORRECT AT POINT OF SALE they are in BREACH OF THE SALE OF GOODS ACT with regard to SATISFACTORY QUALITY.
To be honest with you all Lindvale HAVE been COURTEOUS and HELPFUL so far, I have dealt with Joanne and Julie, and as we speak I awaiting a call will keep everyone informed

Which is what you could have said to start with, perhaps???

It is a bit strange that we have 2 new members who's first, or second posts have been to say how wonderful Lindvale are.......

Taking that on one side, this area of the site is called "Dealer Experiences". Therefore, the idea is for people to post what their experiences are.....good or bad......

So lets not get personal about it, eh???
