I've recently noticed that when driving my 2.5tdi at a steady constant speed sometimes the car feels like what I can only describe as chugging. It is only slight there doesnt seem to be any variation on the rev counter and my misses doesnt notice it in the passenger seat, However she has recently driven it and felt the same experience. It makes you fell that you are moving forwards and backwards in your seat however this sensation only seems to happpen to the driver. It happened to my partner at around 40mph and me at around 70mph. I have never driven an automatic before so dont know if it is the norm.

I have this topic elsewhere but it was in the wrong section

Hi Treggin around,

Do you know if you have a Tunit, or similar, fitted? It can cause a slight kangarooing especially on low throttle, i.e. 35-40 in 5th or around 70 in 6th.

If you do, try adjusting the unit down a few notches and see if it improves.

I had a similar problem, it was rectified with a software upgrade on the engine(2.5 R5 diesel-manual box). I have the use of a VAG Com and the upgrade did make changes in the engine module controller. I noticed the problem at 1900 rpm and again at 3100.
Hope it is of some help.

Thanks for your quick reply . I have had the car a few weeks and was not told about such a unit. where would i look to see If i do indeed have one :help:
Its unlikely to be there unless you put one in yourself, so probably best to try the software update.

havn't noticed this on treg but in other cars have suffered similar problems on those cases the fly by wire throttle had to be flashed with new software to fix it sounds very similar used to get it during the rare occasions one had to run at 30mph it would surge on and off even with cruise control on...
