Just had my first VW warranty experience as I had a few problems with the Treg starting on cold mornings over the last week or so.

My nearerst Touareg dealer is 50 miles away but visited my local VW showroom. Within an hour I was contacted by VW Swansea, a courtesey was arranged. The next day my Treg was picked up at my office and the Courtesey car left. 24 hours later i received a phone call from the Service Manager (Michael). Who explained that they had repaired a sticking inlet manifold flap and also repaired the ashtray in the back (which i didnt know was broken but my kids probably did!!), and the driver was about to leave and return it to me if convenient.

On receiving the car I was delighted to find they had valeted the inside and out. I must say that compared to the service I have received from Mercedes and BMW in the past VW were outstanding. Professional, polite and efficient.

One of my biggest concerns when buying a treg was the lack of authorised dealers. But even though i did not buy my car from this dealer or even have the service done by VW there were no quibbles whatsoever and all my concerns are totally unfounded.

Sorry ben I dont really know I have always dropped it off before. I went into the local dealer, they took my details, 5 mins later i had a phone call to arrange the exchange. I had a choice to wait for a courtesey treg or phaeton (2 days) or immediate with a courtesey passat. Arranged the swap they turned gave me an estimated time of completion and bang on time returned the car. Amazed!!!

Nice one, just wish it was always that consistent. What is the rule for arranging and collection and delivery of your car as opposed to dropping it off?

Good stuff!

As has been said, if only this level of service was consistent throughout the country then half the posts on this site would not be here!!

No Merckx a few years ago legislation changed and it is now illegal for Manufacurers to insist on own dealer servicing for competition/monopoly purposes. As i said my nearest dealer is 50 miles away the guy I use is 2 miles away. He has always done every vehicle I have had. I never get ripped off, I trust him and he is much more thorough and importantly cheaper. Last service I had, parts (oil filter etc.) was ?117, labour ?70, which I think is exceptional. He checks everything and does a report for any thing I may need doing.

Lee,

You said that this was done under warranty but you also said that you didn't have the car serviced by VW is that right? as i thought that invalidated the warranty?
