In various places on this site I have written with some detail in connection with uneven tyre wear issues and groaning noises from my 2003 V10, and associated visits to Inchcape VW Shrewsbury and then to Dane VW Chester and my experiences with the VW Luxury Support Team.

Throughout the experience has been a frustrating one,
although retrospectively it can be viewed as positive in respect of the fact that the problems with the V10 have been resolved.

My update today is to comment on the swift response from the General Manager of Inchcape VW Shrewsbury, Mr Jon Mills. I had contacted the Lux team for technical uspport with the service department of Inchcape VW, SHrewsbury. Once the issue was resolved they passed my comments to the General Manager at Inchcape. Learning this on Monday of this week, I rang and spoke with him direct, he had just been informed of the issues by the Lux Team. He investigated the problems I had been having and within a few days got back to me.

I was looking for some recompense for the set of four tyres fitted and the four wheel tracking, which could have been avoided if the faults had been spotted on my initial visit to Inchcape VW. I'm pleased to say that today Inchcape VW Shrewsbury have offered a credit note to the value of these items - faith restored.

Well done Jon Mills, he evidently wants to retain a customer, do the right thing and has been forthcoming in acknowledging some internal problems which they were hitherto not aware of in relation to transfer box and uneven tyre wear issues with the Touareg.

If you have been reading the various posts I have made you will see that a visit last week with my wife's Beetle was positive, excellent service.

I hope to post further positive comments in relation to Inchcape VW, Shrewsbury, and hopefully these will be made after the next scheduled service and not as a result of a "problem" !

Again, great news Richard. As you know, my recent experience has found them to provide a very good service, especially with follow up calls etc.

The problem with transmission transfer gearbox and uneven tyre wear occurred in my vehicle admittedly a lowly 2.5 tdi at 9000mls. Lakeside diagnosed the problem, and replaced all 4 tyres under warranty along with a new transfer gearbox. This happened sept/oct 2004, I'm surprised that your local garage was unaware of the problem until now. But it is good that you have been compensated. It would have been much better if they had sorted the problem when it first appeared.

Just to add a positive comment about inchcape, My 2003 V10 was bought over the phone from them, sales service was great, negotiated discount for no part ex and extended the warranty in the price.

10,000 miles later front tyres were shot and rears wearing, i was about to order 4 new tyres till I read this site. Booked the car into inchscape and they promptly replaced all four tyres and transfer box under warranty. So thanks for all your hard work, it clearly made inchcape recognise they need to look after their lux car customers.
