(SECOND ATTEMPT AT POSTING THIS AS YESTERDAY'S HAS BEEN LOST)

Just got back from the Lakes after hiring a 2.5 SE Sport ( that way I feel I can canvas a best deal from any source rather than being obligated to the dealer that I blagged an extended loan from). Did 700 miles on motorway, decent A roads, narrow lanes, up hill & down dale.

Guess what...I want one even more. Trouble was, just before I gave it back I took out a V6 TDI for half an hour. Now that did show a difference..but shall I go the extra 5k? to match the SE sport spec??? YES!

Took these pics to show where I want to be later this year:

QUOTE(PaulOckenden @ Jun 15 2005, 09:57 PM)Where did you hire it from? I've never seen Tregs available at hire companies.

Listers at Stratford upon Avon have hire facility for all VWs. VW.UK web pages show which dealers offer a variety of services, including hire cars. For Treg it is £90 per day, £180 for weekend (Fri-Mon). They offered me the same price for a Saturday to Tuesday hire...£500 insurance excess which is taken from credit card at time of hiring and refunded on return. They have both 2.5 & V6 TDI which are also their "customer care" vehicles, so they had to check that the one I wanted to hire was available for my chosen weekend...but they did arrange with about 5 days notice.

As mentioned in another thread about dealer experiences...Listers seem to be pretty competent in a lot of areas.

I am planning to repeat the exercise with the V6 in a couple of weeks time (by which time I should have placed my order for a new one anyway
)

I know, I know...I saw those comments and I tried to resist, I really did. HONEST!!

So far I started looking at a BMW 2.0D X3, changed direction to a Treg...starting at the 2.5 SE manual spec. The more I looked, the more I added...up to auto, then 2.5 SE Sport, now its a V6 TDI Sport with options to fit it out with some of the goodies I want... It must end now!!! My price to change has almost doubled so far.

As someone else mentioned on this site...coming on here is bad for your wallet

well you could always test drive the V10 and double your money again.

I have been giving the X3 a wee look over as my Scooby is getting on my nerves.
Kinda like X3 but I have taken a bit of a shine to the Nissan Pathfinder.
but then I think no will get a Rav then think nope what about a Jeep Cherokee

Good grief!!!

Never mind "princess Fi".....I reckon Fickle Fi would be more appropriate....

You've only just got the Scooby, and spent a fortune on it....and now you're gonna change????

All I can say is I understand why Alan goes away so much................

Indeed is it Rob - A very expensive site.

I too was looking at an X3, then squeezing into a 2.5 Manual, now ordered a 2.5 SE Sport Auto so I have WELL overstretched my budget.

V6 TDI would have been lovely, but couldn't have specced it up the same (totally out of money) and I need the leather for the kids - believe me, it's worth it when sticky things end up on the seats.

That reminds me, I've got a good post for tips on cleaning leather seats. Will pop it in mods.

Mikey,

I know....but the order's in TODAY

12-20 weeks anticipated wait

V6 TDI Sport Auto, Reed Green, Sunny Beige leather, DVD sat nav, park sensors, convenience pack & heated rear seats too.

They had the Beemer soft top in PX today (best time to sell by £1,500), so using 2 wheels for the rest of the summer...just gotta wait now

The wait is horrid. If mine arrives first then I'll bring it over to Cov one weekend so you can have a peek.

Mikey,

That'd be good.

I shall get another fix soon though...I will have to make another trip to the Lakes within the next 4 weeks, so I'll hire another Treg from Listers...I'll go for the V6 TDI this time.
