Similar to the post below, i have just spotted some fluid on the driveway. It looks as though it's coming from the thick, black pipe that leads into the bottom of the suspension on the near side front.

Could conceivably be coming from above that and dripping onto the pipe on it's journey to the ground though.

Does anyone know what that pipe is for?

It's a facelift 57 3.0 TDI altitude.

As it happens, the car is going into VW on Thursday for an aircon repair anyway so i'll ask them to look, would just like any opinions before i leave it to them.

I filled the aircon coolant as it wasn't cold and it's still not cold so i guess it's an engagement or interior temperature sensor fault. Will report on this to.

Cheers All

I'm rather puzzled by what you mean when you say "I filled the aircon coolant".

The aircon system contains refrigerant gas which is a specialist job to top up as first the system is evacuated into a sealed container before being recharged with a set weight of gas which also contains a lubricating oil in suspension.

I was just being quick - I had the coolant professionally re-charged.

What has the aircon got to do with suspension oil exactly?

Actually, just re-read, you mean an oil: in suspension as in contained in a mist within the coolant.

right?

Anyway, does anyone know what the leaking pipe is for?

Please help.

Did they check for refrigerant leaks first?
