Don't forget to take 10 seconds to reset the gearbox.

Turn the ignition on but do NOT start the car.

Press the accelerator firmly to the floor and hold it there for a full 10 seconds.

Release the pedal.

Turn the ignition off.

Get out of the car and do 5 star jumps.

The car will now learn how you drive it.

had a chance to clean, review and drive the 2004 V10 (with 87,000miles). Visually outside, underneath & inside it really is immaculate for a 17yr old car. It will goto my VAG specialist for fluids / filters next week. Fair play to the garage selling it, he was precise and excellent in all communications. Organising delivery from Southampton area all way up to Aberdeenshire. We’ve Driven about 300miles last two days and other than a creaky dash at higher speeds there are no strange noises, warnings, smoke and genuinely drives / tracks straight. Electrics all working correctly too. Absolutely lovely thing to drive! The torque is wonderful, and our kids are enjoying the rear heated seats! Keyless entry is a novelty and the ZX spectrum infotainment brilliantly retro. Just bought 6 cds for the music. First for the kids wondering why the screen isn’t a tough screen and wondering what cds are 🤣🤣.

I did some historical digging of previous two owners. First 10yrs it was located at Hyde Park, London next to Harrods. Some chap from Switzerland. All VW service history upto last 3yrs. Next owner I think was Finish and had his own logging company. Lots of notes / receipts on all the work he’s done. With engine out, Garrett chargers replaced etc. Air suspension serviced… really looks well cared for by him.

Looking forward to taking care of it too, a decent budget has been put aside from me to keep it in top condition too. Think it complements the Lotus nicely.

time to enjoy!

Big V8 and V10 diesel Tregs and Lotus compliment each other in my experience :) I think because they both pack a lot of engineering into a small space with limited access when needed :(

cheers

That looks a fantastic example, nice to know it’s found it’s way into the hands of someone who will maintain it as required, enjoy 👍👍👍
My grandson loves the heated back seats in mine too 😂
