Any one had the same problem. Driving normally this morning when the Esp light came on and stayed on, the cold start light came on but went out after a few seconds. The car then stayed in third gear and I had limited throttle. Manage to get home turned off the ignition and now all seems fine. The air bag fault light has been on for a while now but that should be rectified on Wednesday when it goes in for service, They reckon its a wiring loom fault in steering wheel. Any ideas on the ESP would be welcomed.

Hi.
I had a similar problem last winter. The ESP light was rectified as a pressure sensing valve fault, the airbag light was a bag replacement job. The strange thing was the both came up within an hour of the car having its 10k mile service!! I have the VagCom cable software and was able to locate the problem prior to returning it to the dealer. The engine did not however exhibit any of the problems you have mentioned and the VagCom gave an all clear on all engine and ecu controllers.

Hi Simon,
I've bought a V6 3.0 two weeks ago, 07 model, new shape one, and for the last 5 days it's been at the dealership with the same ESP problem. Actually, worse. It brings the car to a 10mph top speed. The dealer is Alan Day in Southgate, London. They are really good with Tregs, but they couldn't find the problem. They got VW Technical involved from headoffice, result, nothing. Everytime you turn as well it's as if the car is plugging in mud. No throttle again above 10mph. At one stage I tried it with ESP off, same result. Bit worrying that. At some stage I know they've put the uplink into the car for Germany to run some tests online. At the moment, they've raised a DIS report or something to get an answer from VW UK on what to do. At this stage, I'm kind of fed-up and want to give the car back to the dealer I bought it from, Inchcape, Shrewsbury by tow truck.

The car went in on the 5th of June....it's still there. VW Technical even can't find the fault now and looks like the cars is on it's way back to VW UK. Not happy.

common fault more than likely a sensor called g201 brake pressure or the servo travel valve if under warranty your ok if not labour to get to this part is extensive if daignosed correctly .Air bag either the loom in the wheel or the side air bag conections under the seat ask if the vehicle is due a 90d7 recall if you have not already had it .(freee even if out of waranty)

Would you believe it!!

One week after having a tantrum, Treggie is at it again.

Not content at giving SWMBO the vapours last week with the bad earth and all that that entailed, last night it threw up a Brake assist warning message. Called VW Assist and they didn't have a VW specialist available until this morning so 0800hrs was booked for a call out to home. Received phone call at 0720hrs to say he was on his way and he arrived at 0750hrs. I think he was quite glad to see that it was me with the vehicle and not Sue as she had been less than pleased last week when he had to strip out half the dashboard and centre console

He had a pretty good idea what it was before he even connected the VAG COM.

He took one look at the warning lights and diagnosed the G201 Brake pressure sender as the culprit. Vag Com confirmed this. As it is mainly an off road aid he said it would be OK to drive normally until it can be booked in for the work to be done at Dane in Chester.

He reckons it's a good half day job as it is difficult to get at. Just waiting now for Dane to get back to me with a time to come in with it . I said there's no rush as there is still 2 years left on the lease

Read a bit about this G201 pressure sender and the VW Assist tech Mark said it is quite a common problem. For that reason if anyone has this problem out of warranty I would think you would have a good chance of getting it repaired free of charge as a good will gesture.

Will update after visit to workshop.

Good morning all.

Tom
