Haven't been on here for a while. Whilst I try to avoid going anywhere near a dealer as much as I can, I do have to get a service every now and then.
My question is this - what does everyone think about the standard of valeting from their dealer? As far as mine is concerned, I reckon they just chuck a bucket of water over it and rub a rag around for a few seconds. As for the interior, well they don't even bother! Call me old fashioned, but when they've extracted large sums of money out of me to just to tell me that everything's OK and they've only replaced a couple of filters I would, at the very least, like to have the pleasure of seeing my car coming back looking pretty good (at least better than it did when it went in!).
Our other car is an Audi, which goes to the dealers next door, and they always send it back looking like it's just come out of the showroom. Shining like a new pin, thoroughly valeted inside and wheels blacked. It at least makes you feel you've got something for your money.
We have an Audi as well, and it always appear better valeted than the treg. Other car dealers don't seem to bother. Had a RAV4 once. It went in dirty and came back dirty, but then the service charge was only something like £70.
me to i was at a mercedes dealship the other day looking at a floor problem in their showroom and the guy doing the valet filled a 5 litre container of car shamppo with fairy liquid

On the larger issue. VW Cardiff have an automatic car wash which they use...and they usually hoover out the interior....and you can use the car wash for free yourself anytime........if you really want to

oh my god
think of the scratches unless of course it is touchless
I consider myself an expert on this subject
Bought new Audi allroad last summer, before we accepted the car had it sent back to prep area to get rid of polishing swirl scratches.
Bought second allroad in Dec more swirls in paintwork this time on bonnet had to use Zymol pre waxer/cutting polish (smells like chocolate) to get rid.
same vehicle went into dealer a week later for door adjustment they valeted car and left long deep scratches on roof after using a silicon `blade` possibly with embedded grit, wasn't able to get rid even with meguires scratch X.
When I ordered the Audi S4 this year I set out a non cleaning/polishing requirement and as evidence as to the cleaning bays ineptitude I showed the salesman the deep swirl scratches on his showroom Audi A4 in the same met black colour. Unfortunately on day of handover they gave me a vehicle as per my request but covered in oversprayed tar spots on the flanks of the vehicle. I did feel for the salesman at 18.30 trying to remove the tar before I would accept the vehicle. I did mention that in future he should have the vehicles prepared by the team across the road in the BMW garage (never any problems with scratches or vehicle prep when I bought pair of vehicles from BMW) they use a warm air dryer rather than blades or shamy.
Made no extra demands on the salesman for prep on VW for the Touareg, on day collected vehicle was pristine not a scratch/water mark in sight (Cooks VW Peterborough).
I always make and stress the point to any dealerships not to valet cars after servicing etc on the principle that they are our cars, we only use top products. To the valet its just another car, they tend not to be paid alot and the incentive is probably the throughput not the quality.
PL
ps they must pay valeters more at BMW although servicing costs are no more than Audi/VW.
