Orange light and pleasant chimes - "running gear fault". Occuring since March of this year. Several visits into VW Inchcape Shrewsbury no success. Fault then became regular, practically every journey. Inchcape look even more enthusiastically for the fault, various advices from VW UK but unfortunately after another few days in their workshop still no success.

Red light - "do not drive"
etc

Phone call to VW Assist - great response, prompt and professional, Europcar courtesy car within two hours of phone call.
V10 taken away to garage of choice, DANE VW, Chester. Sorry Inchcape, you'd had several trys ....

One week later all tests carried out, loads of parts fitted, collect car dealer asks me to monitor situation .... yes, the orange light within one mile. Car back to Dane within the hour, great service - here's a Touareg 2.5td auto give us a few more days. Luxury Car Manager carries out great PR job to persuade me to retain faith in Touareg.

Plenty of phone calls from Service Dept keeping me in the loop, and then the next week phone call car ready, Dane arrange to return mid way to me (thats half of 100 miles each way!) They've replaced loads of parts, too many names to remember .... now travelled a few journeys neither an Orange or Red light.

Again, well done Dane VW, Chester for great service, promptness and courtesy.
Great team, many thanks to Steve, Service Manager and his guys.

Incidentally I didn't purchase this vehicle from Dane, just shows you that this company has a long term interest in the Touareg and its customers.

Update - V10 back with dealership, not a running gear fault but a turbo fault.

Symptoms - distinct lack of power, reluctentness to "rev".

One of the turbos failed, not a control unit but the item itself.

Currently in the dealers for repair, involves removing the engine.
