Carried out modification to all door handles.
apparently not a recall but i was told that VW have instructed that certain models have a modification done to the door handles to stop them sticking or something? when they are in for maintenance.

Looks like the dealers are clocking up more warranty work then...

anybody else had that?

Well my rear passenger handle pretty much fell off... But I had to pay for it as it was a non warantee item... Classed as adjustment, not part failure...

Although I'd say falling off is a pretty big failure... If your suspension falls off is that just an adjustment too..?!

I thought this was a recall on the early models. Had this done to my silver blue petrol treg that we had.

Yes, I had this done when my Treg was in last week for the modified steering harness (airbag fault due to harness under tension).

I wasn't having any problems with the door handles, but they carried out the modification anyway.
Lakeside VW in Staffs have done this for me under warranty, sounds like your dealer is trying their luck?!
When mine was in for its service in December this was done by the dealer (seperate to the 90D7 recal that was don ein September)- this was done as a warranty item so I was not charged.

That 90D7 and the door handles is not a recall realy, its a campaign. It is 2 very different senarios altogether.

When a car is recalled it is safety related ie. a fire risk or posible brake failure or airbag deployment. Where your safety could be at risk basicly.

Campaigns is a quality measure they take to ensure/try to ensure a truble free owner ship of your car.

Door handles sticking is not safety related and neither is 90D7

And VW is paying for all this under warrenty and god help the dealer that charges his customer for this repair

I seem to remember a dealer advice memo in 2004 early 2005 requiring a check on rear door handles. The issue was, the outside handles not fully retracting flush to the door, compromsing the locking system. Can anybody else help.
