Buzzing Speakers...

3253 Views 7 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  418 BUC
Hi folks,

Last few times I've been in the Treg, it's sounded as if the lower speaker on the drivers door (bass?) is distorting - especially noticeable when driving at low speeds (less ambient noise) or when people are talking on the radio (sounds like the old comb/paper kazoo thingy).

I like my music but don't have the volume set high (no more than 2/3rds max) - my hearing being one of the few senses which is still working - despite my advanced age

Seem to remember a few others (Scottie for one) mentioning poor quality speaker cones - has anyone had theirs changed under warranty OR had their speakers upgraded by an after market supplier??

Love the Treg but need :help: coz this is driving me

This has been a big problem with US Tregs - I believe all fixed under warranty.

I think there is also a US thread on upgrades - the amp is actually in the boot behind one of the removable side access points (O/S I think). Again much discussion.

Thanks for the info Foghorn

Only reason I haven't paid too much attention to the Vortex threads is that U.S owners seem to get better support on some issues than we do and I was hoping to get feedback from UK owners with the same problem - to see whether the parts were simply replaced without issue.

If any UK owner has suffered I'd appreciate hearing how you got on.

Thx in advance

Yep, we had this on drivers side....seemed to be affected by air con (made it worse). Anyway, new speaker fitted under warranty, job done!

Also had same issue on passanger side - also had new speaker fitted FOC and seems to have cured the problem.

Same here...
Nearside rear replaced under warranty

BTW - anyone have any good suggestions for making the sound quality better ? Still sounds a bit bit pants compared to the stereo in my wifes 530. (RNS2 Sat Nav in Treg - Again, just changed under warranty)
Thanks all for your input

Good to hear that speakers have been replaced under warranty without being contested

Unfortunately, it sounds like the standard speakers are just not very good quality and could probably do with upgrading - otherwise they'll just rupture again.

If anyone has done this it would be interesting to know whose speakers were fitted, who fitted them and at what apprx cost.

 think somebody said the main door speakers were an odd size - was that you Scottie?

I had the same problem. Dealer cured it by replacing every speaker on the door under warranty
