My 2012 altitude does this when the car has been parked outside in 'hot' weather. Pedal has to be lifted after braking
This thread is 3 years old and the OP hasn't come back to report if the problem was fixed. He's also not been active on the forum for over 2 years!

Any issue with brakes should be treated as a critical safety issue and you should get them checked out professionally.

Was the brake pedal circlip recall done on your car

Hi All, just to say a huge "thank you" to everyone who has posted on this thread

Another 2012 Touareg here, with sticking or overbraking symptoms exactly as described above, especially in hot weather and on longer runs, requiring the brake pedal to be lifted up after use.

Main dealer couldn't solve it, VW Head Office suggested I try a different dealer (!), and in desperation I came across this thread after Google search to look for clues myself. My dealer quoted £950 to replace the pedal box, so try an independent VW specialist if you need this work doing - my local one (Lion Garage, Nottingham) freed up the pivot at the top of the pedal for £180 - quote: "not the easiest thing they'd ever done!" but car now behaves faultlessly.

So thanks for posting the information, guys, without myTreg I would still have sticking brakes. I owe you a beer, I think!

Did you ask your dealer if your car fell fell within the build numbers for the brake circlip update and was it ever checked on your car 🤔

Hi Cass, yes, it was done when the recall came out, I owned the car then and took it to VW for inspection myself.
I asked again when picking it up from the specialist to make sure all was still good. Can’t be too careful!
Thanks for checking, I really appreciate the input, thank you 🙂
