My friend has a 2005 Tdi touareg (WVGZZZ7LZ5D053023). The low range in the instrument cluster keeps on popping, the low range and high range light in the center console near the gear shift lever keeps on blinking at the same time. Driving the touareg was really slow, and the low and high range still keeps on blinking. There is no MIL appearing on the instrument cluster but scanning with VAG COM reveals this fault code below. I tried erasing the fault code but it keeps on coming back after a few seconds. Help please!

It has been noted on here before that a battery on its way out has led to erratic MFD warnings of all sorts. I have never used VAG-Com but i see that it shows on the fAult that the supply voltage lower limit exceeded. Could therefore be battery or altenator issue?

As Rob said, when battery is low/not charging properly etc, then along with Hill Assist coming up on mfd screen, you can also get the high/low ratio selector flashing.

have you tried putting in neutral, moving the selector knob to low range, then driving a few meters, stopping, put in neutral again, move selector to high ??

if its driving slow and says low range i would say you probably are in low range
