Just had confirmation off dealer that my Treg being build last week in March so expecting delivery 1st May.

I?m doing 40k a year so there will be a Raven blue Treg living on the M1- that should test its durability and tyre wear and keep the boys at blackcircles.com busy?.

Any body done big mileage in Treg?

Looking forward to it, I've driven V70's over the last four years and they?ve been faultless ? I did have a headlight bulb go in the last one I think.

I?ve tried them all X5 Range Rover Sports etc but the Treg seems to offer great value for money. My sister ordered X5, drove it from the dealers to her house and it never started again ? BM took is away and gave her a Punto?? after three weeks she told them to stick it where the sun don?t shine and bought a 997.

Hi Steve and Welcome,

I put 20k miles on my Treg during a three month period while commuting daily from Ormskirk to Leeds, and I'm now doing 500 miles a week from Leeds to Chelmsford/Dartford so if I see you, I'll wave!

Comfort wise, you can't go wrong - best long hauler I ever drove. Did the Ormskirk Leeds journey in our old Touran a couple of times (at gunpoint because She Boss wanted to keep the mileage down on the Treg
)and I really knew about it!

No problems with tyres whatsoever since I changed to hard compound tyres at 15k miles (still have a good 6-7mm of tread all round after 17k miles on the new set), though I've had a couple of occassions where the beast has dumped oil and the warning light has come on (happened three times in 18 months) - just make sure you keep the courtesy bottle of synthetic oil in the boot topped up, and you'll be laughing (and make sure you get it and the torch - The garages are buggers for not providing them at delivery!

Thank you all,

Good to know the beast can do the mileage.

Re model, I went for SE Sport in Raven with light beige inertia- didn't do the electric seats as I'm the only one that will drive it and I've not moved the Volvo seats in 18 month... Didn't do parking sensors as I don't trust them since LR dealer took me out in a RR Sport and reversed into a post- I could see the post but he just waited for the Beeep that never happened- new rear valance etc

RR sport didn't do much for me and there are already 8 to 10 round our way- Disco was OK but I live in the Yorkshire Wolds and every other car is a Land Rover of some type

Re Altitude- I like the clean lines of Treg, the Altitude is going a little Max Power for me (remember I have been driving V70s for 4 year)- more plastic to keep clean!!!

Just a note on tyre- I've dealt with http://www.blackcircles.com for years, and they are about the best price out there, when you get a price for tyres of some of the other .com's make sure you know what's included- fitting, balancing etc- I got caught, thought I could get cheaper deal until the final bill and then it's to late

I'd double think about the Parking Sensors -The Treg is a hell of a car to park

Visibility is not good for reversing and the bonnet dips away - The sensors have NEVER let me down and are one of the best extras I added - Of course this is my own opinion but I suspect a few more on here will echo my view

Yorks Wolds eh? May see you around - parents live over that way

Like the colour combo BTW!

QUOTE(stevebeedle @ Mar 14 2006, 05:47 PM)can not add them now as in build cycle- if you see Raven Blue Treg with dents at the front and back - that will be me

Is that what the dealer said or are you just thinking that...?? Not wishing to be rude but (I think) its still possible that you might be able to make an amendment depending on the stage its got to.....I'm sure I 've read of other people managing to do that...

Welcome to Treggers World!!

Re Adding Parking Sensors

If the build week is last week in March, then the vehicle would have gone 'frozen for production' some time ago, at which point spec. changes can no longer be made. Parking sensors can be added after market but they would only be audible rather than optical & audible as the factory option is.

Oh, welcome to Touareg ownership, you are going to be owning the best 4x4 available!

Thanks for that "informed" reply Oli!!

Can you give a breakdown of the timescales people should expect(time when spec can be changed/build to delivery etc etc ?) Could be useful for future reference...

Real rough guide for order process through factory:

Vehicle ordered - factory recieves order from dealer - then anywhere between 1 day & 12 weeks!! untill -

Frozen for Production - no changes can be made to the vehicle it will be built and sent to the dealership as ordered - then approx 2-4 weeks untill -

Vehicle Confirmed - vehicle going into build @ factory - then up to approx 2 weeks untill -

Production Complete - build complete & vehicle checked and on the way to docks - then approx 1 ewwk untill -

Awaiting Ship - 1 day to 1 week depending on sailings untill-

On Ship - for a few days and finally shows -

Consigned - on the way to the dealership - delivery can be up to 5 working days once the vehicle has landed and cleared customs.

Hope this helps.

Just got the new car- even has the torch....... didn?t get any oil though??

done 1000 since 27th April and not used a drop of oil and averaging 29.8mpg- seems to pull much better than I remembered from test drive???

Also came with Bridgestone tyres on, I've had a play on some of the back roads round me and they seem to work very well..... once again much better than I remember the demo car doing.

Very please so far?.

No pic's as yet as now looks like it?s just finished the Dakar...

Only took 8 weeks from booking. The dealer confirmed as a new SE but service book calls it ans SE Sport!!!! Not sure if anybody know knows what is which!!!
Hi Steve,

Thanks for the info,

8 weeks is what I wa quoted but as that is up a week on Tuesday and no confirmation I am getting a little anxious. Waiting for lease company to get back to me having called them 4 times in last 24 hours !!

They are trying to get the info from the dealer who they say is based in Birmingham.

Incidently did you get 18inch Valley alloys as per the brochure or these replacement " Manhattans" ??

Hopefully I should hear something soon.

Cheers Steve,

Regards

Tom
