hello everyone, I am in desperate need for help.
Long story short we bought a 2004 TDI touareg from a local second hand trader last month. We immediately found issues. Reluctantly after weeks of letters and threats of legal action etc the garage have agreed to look at the issue and it has been diagnosed by an independent mechanic that the car has an issue in the transmission box, a gearbox specialist states that this needs replacing.
The garage we bought the car from wants to put a second hand transmission box in, however i am concerned about this, it will come with a small warranty but I fear if this also fails I will have no come back. To make matters worse the car garage will be ceasing it business in the next few months.
The reason for my concern has been emphasised by the fact I have been looking on Google and other discussion forums re : Touaregs and it seems this fault is a known fault with these cars. Am I right? So I could be getting another potentially bust one?
Should I have concerns about a second hand transmission box? A New one from vw Is apparently £3000 so I don't blame the garage for wanting to install a second hand part.
Please also note that on more than one occasion I have asked for my money back and this trader refuses and my impression of them seems that they are very dodgy and very aggressive and I just want rid of the whole mess have been dragged into.
Really gutted as I love the car, but have not been given the chance to enjoy it.
