There is a thread about doing these yourself. Possibly you can do a search for brake pads in the search section of the forum.
Using VW parts I today changed the pads on my 3.0 TDi, the pad wear indicator came on 1200 miles ago.... and i'd say there was safely another 1500 - 2000 miles left on the old pads... there was i'd say at least 10% of the new pad thickness left on the old ones.... but I was sick of seeing the orange light on the dash so changed them anyway..... easy job, 25 mins per side... I would of taken pics along the way but was rushing as the weather was not looking promising.... I'm no car techie, so if i can do it them anyone can.....N8ENS said:

Appreciate this is a r e a l l y old post. Is there any way of switching the pad indicator light off - wither through a menu or removing a fuse?

Plenty of other threads about replacing brake pads but AFAIK, the brake pad warning light won't go off unless you replace the pads/sensors
