good afternoon,
we have currently got a set of 235 65 17's on the T Reg which will have to be replace in the not too distany future.
we have been offered a set of Goodyear F1 GSD3's (235 50 18) which have covered approx 150 miles.
Has anyone any experience with such a size? we have a set of wheels that will match before anyone tells ma they wont fit on our existing rims but what would the consequences be of fitting them to the speedo, transmission etc?
thanks in advance,
allistair

Allistair,

The tyre size for 18 inch wheels is 255/55 X 18. So the 235/50s would be significantly smaller in diameter (45mm or 1.75 inches). Would make the car look a bit like a roller skate - more practically, if you needed to use the spare it would give the transmission a wind-up. Not good for your stepper motors.

Don't do it, would be my advice.

Cheers, Andy

good point, hadnt thought about the spare. as we do a lot of motorway miles we probably wont risk it as knowing our luck, we would get a puncture miles from any civilization.
cheers,
allistair
