Hi all
i am new to this forum and hope someone could help.
i have a 2004 2.5 deisel touraeg sport and it keeps going into limp mode. there are no lights on dash. it seems to lose power gos into limp mode i turn engine off and restart and then its ok for a while but i have to "flick2 the accelerater sometimes to get more power. i have had the acutater changed and had the forte turbo cleaner put in which as helped a bit. i have a feeling it coud be the turbo. My machanic also said that there are another 3 sensors that might need changing he put it in the computer which states boost power issue. Can anyof you help

Have you had the car scanned with VCDS - that should give you the specific VW error code(s) as a starting point. Other diagnostic tools will not be as accurate - what software is your mechanic using

There are numerous limp mode subjects on this and other forums but you need a full VCDS scan as a starting point. Make sure your battery is in good condition and scan with VCDS, then clear the faults and scan again to see what comes up.

Use Google and search on ‘myTreg.com limp mode’ or ‘VW Touareg Limp Mode’ for a examples of previous threads on this subject.

Almost certainly sticking vanes in the turbo, when the ecu asks for a certain amount of boost, and the actual is significantly different, car goes into limp mode. Turning off and on resets it till the next occurrence.

Does that mean he neeeds to just clean the turbo or does he need to recondition it?

It is possible to clean them with varying degrees of success. Didnt work for me a few years ago so i stripped it, removed all the carbon and fitted a new Core from Mellett, one of the better suppliers, better than the chinese versions.
As a start disconnecting the actuator and trying to get movement in the lever at the turbo may help as well. Cleaner of choice seems to be Mr Muscle.

i have it it scanned a couple if times and thesame code comes up but can't remember what the code is off hand but is does say power boost problem. if it is the corbon in the turbo does this mean a new turbo and if so which is the best. thanks so much for your help. the car goes back in tomorrow to have another scan and then go from there. but any help will be much apprciated. the wiered thing is having to flick the acceleratre pedal to get more pwer.

If you are not comfortable with doing the work yourself, then a full replacement is the way to go.
To ensure that the turbo and actuator are matched and set up correctly they should be flow tested which is what these guys do:

An oil change at the same time is essential which will of course be 506.01 for your model.
