Here's a few pics of my new-to-me T5.
First Touareg and I fallen in love with it already after only a week and a half. I've gone from a very fast tuned petrol estate car on sports suspension to this and it's complete tamed my driving style. Not that it's not quick, it is. It's just so quiet and smooth. I'm perfectly happy gently pootling around in it. Although saying that it does hide your speed very well, I just don't notice I'm going as quick as I am..

Thanks for all your comments. Only put 1000 miles on it so far but struggling to find anything about it I don't like.
Caravan's booked in for it's service on the 29th so looking forward to towing with it.

You don't say what 'van you have but we've got an Elddis Super Cyclone and it is quite easy to forget it is there.

Our treg is a fantastic tow car.

We've got a Sussex Coneyhurst (Lunar 586 by any other name).
Was the perfect weight for our last tow car and we need the fixed bunks for the kids. Lovely van and I seriously doubt the Touareg will break a sweat with it's 1450kg MTPLM.
The Elddis 586 was on our shortlist but door fore of the axle made the front bed too small for the Mrs and I.
The Super Cyclone looks lovely.
We've got 1.5 years of 3 dealer warranty left on the Lunar. With the lack of spares from Lunar, it's going as soon the dealer warranty's done.
Very tempted to upsize and I love the Adria Adora Sava but we like out of the way CLs and I know one we've visited for years, I'd seriously struggle to get to with and 8" van.

Excuse the messy camp, I'd just started packing to leave when I took this.

Very nice! I do like the grey panelled vans and it'd match my car's silicon grey perfectly!

What setting have you used when towing, sport or have you put together an Individual profile?

The suspension and gearbox seem to adapt well to the van being there so I just leave it set to normal.

I have played with the various settings but find that normal suites my driving style ninety percent of the time.

I'm in comfort most if the time. Occasionally used normal and sport on twistier roads (to stop the kids getting car sick mostly) as comfort does wallow a bit.
I think comfort might be a bit too soft for towing but will see.

Out of interest, what tyre pressure are you running normally?
When I got the car it had 5k on the clock, they tyres were at 32psi which is the suggested "comfort" pressure on the door plate.
I'd noticed the shoulders (inside and outside edges) on all 4 tyres are worn about 1 or 2mm more than the centres, which is a sure sign of under inflation. There is also far less protection from potholes at that pressure.
I've gone up to the normal running 36psi but it is obviously a slightly harsher ride - probably why I've settled with the comfort profile as my default.

Yeah, it does wallow a bit in comfort but it is useful occasionally. Haven't tried it towing.

I had the tyres at normal when I first got it and though the ride was fine.

But I had a set of tyres fitted in November (one went flat when it had a slot cut in it by a very sharp stone - frustrating given that they had only done 11k and had plenty of tread on them) and the tyre place pumped them up to 32.

They seem a bit soft to me so I'll probably put a bit more in them when we start using the car properly again.

That's annoying. Not sure how mines been driven before my ownership but I think I'll be lucky to see another 10k out of them, going on the rate of wear so far.

I'd really like to fit a set of all weathers next time round, but without moving to 275/45 or 275/40, there just isn't anything available for the 21" wheels.
I keep meaning to contact VW to see if either 275/45 or 275/40 are acceptable to them, not wanting to invalidate my warranty!
