Early in a short journey yesterday the ESP light came on and the car lost all power. Switched off the traction control and everything seemed to be OK. Got to my destination and switched off the ignition. On restart everything was fine (ESP light unlit and TC on).

Seems like the ESP "thought" that one of the wheels was spinning.

I've noticed that the ESP light has flashed for a few seconds periodically over the last month or so, generally during reasonably fast cornering. Also the front TPMS sensors have got a little lazy (don't always show pressure on display until car is moving).

Any ideas?

If it happens again will running with TC switched off cause any damage?

Car has recently passed its MOT with no advisories or issues.

OK. There are a couple of members with VCDS not too far away - I'll try to contact them.

I drove home 25 miles with no issues. Will VCDS show an intermmitent fault, i.e. does it log faults that subsequently clear?

If there's been a fault it will show on the scan.

Scan.

Make a note of any and all codes.

Clear all the codes.

Drive the car.

Scan again and see which, if any, codes return.

25 mile trip home after it first occurred. Two 27 mile journeys today. Not happened again. Hopefully just one of the car's little foibles, but I will get it scanned when I get the opportunity.
