I picked my new to me Touareg up yesterday and have just noticed that the new tyres they have put on the front are 275/40/20, on the rear they are 275/45/20. Im new to the 4x4 world but aren't you supposed to have the same tyre all round as it can damage the transfer box?

Get it sorted PDQ - there's a thread on ClubTouareg about something similar and it caused huge damage.

Thanks all, I’m on it, spoken to the dealer that fitted them waiting to hear back.

Shocking - make sure that all tyres are the same brand, model and size. There should not be more than 2mm difference between tyres on the same axle and not more than 3mm difference between tyres on different axles.

If any of the above apply, insist that the dealer fits 4 brand new premium tyres tyres of the correct size and get a full 4 wheel alignment done.
