Best option is to buy a car with the proper fan factory upgrade from the factory. There should be a good choice but remember that not all adverts from VW UK, VW dealers and private ads are 100% accurate, so ask the question and verify it
Current - 2013 R-Line 245 PS in Pure White Special, 12 way Elec Seats in Vienna, Memory Pack, Air Susp CDC, Swivelling Towbar, TPMS and Spacesaver Spare - Gtechniq TSP treatment : )

Previous - 2012 VW Touareg Altitude 3.0 TDI 245PS, Deep Black Pearlescent and 2009 VW Touareg Altitude 3.0TDI 240PS, Diamond Black Pearlescent

To be blunt, asking the question is pointless - you'll get the answer that there was no possibility of a mis-build and the build-sheets will confirm the fitment of an 850w fan if factory-fit towbar is fitted - that's despite the fact that a mis-build and inaccurate build-sheet has happened to more than one owner.

The only way to verify it is to examine the label on the fan itself, ignore the part number but the power will be printed on the label as 600w or 850w.

My dealer wasn't convinced until they'd removed the original fan and compared it with a 850w fan they ordered in.

Can you see the fan power label without removing the fan ?
Looking for T3 or T4. Primarly an Escape or SE with sub 90k miles.
Would consider R-Line without big wheels.
Located in Glasgow but will travel anywhere for right car

Yes - if you open the bonnet and look down between the front of the engine and the fan/shrouding you can see the label on the fan motor - it's best to photograph it with a phone camera as the angle makes it difficult to read.

IMO, the easy way to tell the difference is to estimate the fan blade width at the circumference - if it's wider than the gap to the next blade, it's an 850w if it's narrower then it's a 600w - neither is close to 50:50.

I got a reply from the seller. He said he can't look at it, no reason given. I suspect he doesn't have it in stock and it'd be a direct ship from the supplier. it would still be possible to return it as per the distance selling regs. Might be worth seeking out the supplier directly...

This seller does link the 850w fan part number(7P6121203C) to the item: https://ebay.us/6RfKHc

I also note that there are several German suppliers doing the same.

If I ultimately source a Treg without a factory towbar I'll try sourcing the part outside of VW. Got to focus by efforts on getting one though there seems to be less coming on the market now. I guess the post lockdown rush is over....
