Hi

My 2014 is getting close to 90k. I know some owners have changed their gearbox oil around this mark. I believe there’s no recommendation from vw unless you tow ?

I’ve had a couple of quotes around £400 in the past for correct oil and filters.
Have you changed yours or planning too ?
Does it feel any different after changing ? Mines fine at the moment.

Just interested in opinions.

Thanks

Yes, there is. It's 60K kilometers (~37K miles).

You don't want your car to feel significantly different after a change, because if it does, that means that you already had a fluid in there that didn't provide the appropriate lubrication, resulting in increased wear on the components.

There was a recommendation a while back from VW to change at 80K.

It appeared on a service schedule.

The 40K change is for DSG boxes.

I changed mine recently at 58k. It changes a little smoother but might be a placebo. The old fluid however was dark & dirty & the pan magnets had a resonable amount of sludge.

I replaced the internal filter after removing the pan & replaced the gasket. I then did a second pan plug drain two weeks later.
I see it as preventative maintainance as clean ruby red fluid must be better for it than dark & dirty. I have had automatic cars for many years & they all had 60k ATF change service schedules. At 90k imho do it asap. Consider diy as it is easy enough and the parts are around £100.

I also eneded up changing the oil in the front & rear diffs & the transfer box. The oil in all was dirty & black. Ravenol products used for all ordered off their website with free delivery.

I did it myself at 155.000km.
It is all explained at post #236 here:

https://www.clubtoua....173138/page-12

I used Liquimoly Toptec 1800 and Vaico filter and gasket set. All in all, I needed 17l for a complete ATF flush.
I felt a significant improvement in shift quality.

I have a 2016 262 R line. I was advised by VW that it has a sealed gearbox and will not need changing?. Is that correct?. The mileage is now at 29k
