Maybe a stupid question … but if you turn off the keyless entry, do you then have to use the key inserted to start the car ?
Its been a long time since I didn't use keyless !
VW Touareg 2016 R Line , Reef Blue, parking heater , 100 litre fuel tank ,14 way upgrade leather seats , Westfalia tow bar, sometimes with a canoe on top and with a caravan in tow
Previously VW Touareg 2011 SE in Pearl Black with lots of extras, had for about 5 yrs

No, you just use the buttons on the fob to operate the central locking like in the olden days......

Should have been more specific.

The question should have been , when I start the car and keyless entry is off, will the Start button still work or do I have to put the key into the slot in the dash ?

I should have read the message properly too 🙁.
My car recognised the fob presence and enabled the start button after the car had been unlocked with the fob button.
Only the door unlocking automatically when the fob is in close proximity appears to be disabled.
There doesn’t appear to be key operated steering lock on the new model either.

Thanks Dave , will have to check mine as it may be different on a 2016 model .
